It's the 100th Day of School!

Check out these old geezers! To celebrate today being the 100th day of school, elementary students across the district dressed up like 100-year-olds! They shuffled into school this morning dressed in their PJs, some still wearing curlers in their hair, using their canes and walkers. Pictured below is Mrs. Vezina with her third grade class of old codgers and a group of geriatrics from Mrs. Talbert's third grade class, both from Seipelt Elementary.
ECO-Eagles Launch Plastic-Free Challenge

Milford Junior High's Eco-Eagles have started a campaign to rid the world of plastic. The team wants to raise awareness of how plastic is impacting our waterways.

Their Plastic Free Challenge encourages individuals to do their part to eliminate plastic from their lives - bit by bit - every little bit counts.

They are spreading their message by using the hashtag #LookAtMePlasticFree on Instagram. They hope to garner support from local businesses and to share the message community wide, with the ultimate goal to go viral.

Pictured above are Eco-Eagle members Nicholas Kessel, Anna Chen, Kayla Blackston, and Dylan Hallinan. Check out their campaign video:
Wind & Percussion Ensembles Chosen
to Perform at OMEA Conference

This Saturday, February 1, Milford High School's Wind Ensemble and Junior High Percussion Ensemble were selected to perform at the Ohio Music Education Association's (OMEA) Professional Development Conference, which is a huge honor.

From around the state 135 student ensembles applied, and only five bands were invited and two percussion ensembles were invited - and Milford takes TWO of those slots! Milford's Wind Ensemble comprises 55 students and the Percussion Ensemble comprises 17 students.

The OMEA Professional Development Conference is held each year to provide clinics and concerts for music educators from across the state. The concert performances highlight outstanding student, collegiate, and professional ensembles who are presented as the best in the state in their respective categories. The concerts will be held at the Duke Energy Convention Center Downtown.

Protect Your Family From the Spread of the Flu

Milford Schools are still seeing a high number of influenza cases in our school buildings and in our community. To alleviate the spread of the virus within our schools, we ask that no child returns to school until their fever has returned to normal for a minimum of 24 hours without the use of fever-lowering medications.

To combat the further spread of flu in the school, we are asking you to keep sick children at home. Any child that displays flu-like symptoms will be sent home from school: high fever, headache, body ache, runny or stuffy nose/cough, extreme tiredness, and/or sore throat.

The flu spreads in respiratory droplets from coughing and sneezing. It is spread from person to person, though they may become infected from touching an infected surface, then touching their mouth or nose.

These are some “emergency warning signs  that require urgent medical attention:

  • Fast breathing or trouble breathing
  • Not drinking enough fluids, not urinating enough
  • Not waking up or very lethargic
  • Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
  • Fever with a rash

The Ohio Department of Health and the Clermont County Health District are well aware of the new Coronovirus (2019-nCoV) and its possible effect in Ohio. They are being proactive and keeping our District Nurse informed in the event of an exposure or outbreak.  No cases have been reported in Ohio.
