Milford School Board Places Bond Issue on the May Ballot
At its meeting on January 16, the Milford Board of Education voted to place a 4.7 mill bond issue on the May 7, 2019 ballot. If approved, the bond will build a middle school (grades 6-8) to replace the current Milford Junior High (grades 7-8); add a new 1,000 seat auditorium shared by the new middle school and high school; replace the HVAC and portions of the roof at the high school; provide new learning spaces in the unrenovated portions of the high school; replace several athletic facilities that are in poor condition; and complete the stadium renovation.

Milford School Community Shows Support for Brewer Family
On Saturday, February 2, Officer Bill Brewer from the Clermont County Sheriff Department lost his life in the line of duty. As a show of support, Milford staff and students districtwide wore blue and collected money for Officer Brewer's family. As of Friday, February 8, our Milford School Community has raised almost $10,000 for the Brewer family!

Milford to Host VEX Robotics Tournament on February 9
Milford will host a VEX robotics tournament at Milford Junior High School this Saturday, February 9. The public is welcome to attend and watch more than 60 teams compete between 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the gym.

Milford High School's Annual Game of Hope This Saturday
Milford High School will host its annual Game of Hope in honor of Lauren Hill and The Cure Starts Now Foundation this Saturday.
The ladies of Milford and Turpin High Schools will play for a cause greater than themselves on Saturday, February 9, at Milford High School. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. prior to the JVB Contest at 11 a.m. vs McNicholas. Pre-game festivities and a special ceremony will begin immediately following the JV game that has a start time of 12:30 p.m.
The varsity game begins at 2 p.m. There will be a Layup4Lauren Challenge during halftime at 2:45 p.m., as well as, split the pot, bake sale, t-shirt sales($10), and basket raffle (half-time drawing).
Remembrance or honor ribbons will be sold for $1 in the lobby to be displayed in Fley Center. Admission prices: Cancer survivors free, adults $6, students $4, and non-school age free. All money raised will be contributed to The Cure Starts Now Foundation.
Lauren Hill was a 19-year-old brain cancer patient who entered the national spotlight with the story of her first game as a basketball player at Mount St. Joseph. Lauren’s wish was that the movement to cure cancer would not end at that game and that people would use the game to continue to fundraise for The Cure Starts Now Foundation.

Milford High School's Cinderella Runs February 7-10
The Friday night performance of Cinderella by Milford High School’s Drama Department will be moved from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on February 8. Alexa Mueller, our talented lead in Cinderella, has been named a semi-finalist in the Overture competition held on the same day! Alexa will be performing first in the competition and then heading straight to Milford for her performance! This time change will affect just the show on Friday, February 8.

Full-Day Kindergarten Registration Deadline February 15
|
Milford School District looks forward to welcoming new Eagles into our flock! To be eligible for Kindergarten, your child must be 5 years old by September 30, 2019.
The district offers tuition-free half-day kindergarten and at least one full-day, tuition-based kindergarten class in each of the elementary buildings.
The official deadline for applying for full-day kindergarten is February 15, 2019. If there are still open spots in full-day kindergarten after this date, registration will remain open.
Registration must be done in person with Jay Batterson in Central Registration located at 1099 State Route 131. Please contact Carrie Clark at (513) 831-1314 to schedule a registration appointment.

Milford Preschool Registration 2019-2020 to be Held in February
Milford Preschool will be holding registration on Wednesday, February 13, from 4-7 p.m. The registration forms for the 2019-20 school year will be posted to our preschool page, under the registration tab. Parents must print and complete the registration form and bring the form and all necessary documents to registration along with the $65 registration fee.
Milford School District’s Preschool offers an integrated preschool program for students aged three to five. The program is a mix of eight students with special needs and eight typically developing students. Our classes follow the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Content Standards. Milford Preschool is located at 1039 State Route 28. Children must turn age three by September 30, 2019 to be eligible for the 2019-2020 school year.

On February 5, Mrs. Sarah Baker's kindergarten class at Boyd E. Smith Elementary celebrated the 101st day of school appropriately dressed as 101 Dalmatians!

Milford JHS Artwork on Display in Columbus
Two Milford Junior High School students will have their artwork on display at a special art exhibition in Columbus!
Eighth graders Lillian Felix and Payton Hughes were chosen as exhibitors for the 39th Annual Youth Art Month Exhibition sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association. Their work will be displayed in the Youth Art Month Exhibition at the State Teacher’s Retirement Systems (STRS) building, 275 East Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio. The exhibit will be open from February 16- March 23, during normal business hours on Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Bullying Topic of MJHS Family Engagement Series
The next program in the Milford Junior High School Family Engagement Series will focus on the subject of bullying and school safety.
The program will take place on Wednesday, February 13, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the MJHS media center and feature speaker Alison Savage, MS, LPCC-S, a psychologist with the Children's Home of Cincinnati.
Our MJHS Family Engagement Series is open to all Milford School District parents.

Milford Guards Place First at Marching Arts Competition
|
Congratulations to the Milford High School Open and “A” Winter Guards for both placing first in their divisions at the Tri-State Marching Arts Waynesville competition on Saturday!
The MHS Open team next competes in Zionsville, Indiana on February 9 followed by the Winter Guard International Indianapolis regional on February 16 and 17.

Boys Swim and Competitive Cheer Squad...ECC Champs!
Congratulations to Milford Eagles boys swim team for winning the 2019 ECC Championship!
Milford’s Chase Fisher was named the ECC Boys Swimmer of the Year and Coach Corey Dauw named ECC Boys Coach of the Year.

Milford’s cheer squad made it four championships in a row, while the dance team finished in the top three for the third consecutive year at Saturday’s annual Eastern Cincinnati Conference Cheer and Dance Championships. The individual awards for each category were won by Milford athletes as well.
The judges awarded Milford the Championship with a first-place finish based on their cheer and game day performances. Milford’s dance team placed third overall following their jazz and hip hop performances.
Milford’s Competition Cheer Team will compete at the 2019 National High School Cheerleading Championships on February 9 and 10 at the Walt Disney World Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The competitions will be held at the ESPN Wide World Of Sports ® Complex.

Student Artists Honored at Board Meeting
At its monthly meetings, the Milford Board of Education recognizes our talented students along with their artwork. These pieces of artwork are then displayed at the district administrative offices for a month.

Milford Inducts 2018 Athletic Hall of Fame
The Milford Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee Class of 2018 was honored before the boys varsity basketball game on February 1.

Community Swim Sessions for February
The MHS pool is open for school district residents to swim for free during community swim sessions. Any participant under the age of 16 must have a parent or legal guardian present to swim. If school is closed due to inclement weather, community swim will not be held.
Two family swim sessions will be held in February on Saturday, February 9 and Saturday, February 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Seven More Eagles Participate in College Signing Day
At the college signing day held on February 6, seven members of Milford High School's Class of 2019 signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers on the collegiate level.
They are: Jake Ayler (Football-Mount St. Joseph University), Dylan Hughes (Football-Eastern Illinois University), Calvin Hunter (Baseball-Marshall University), Dustin Laudermilk (Football-Mount St. Joseph University), Brian Stevens (Football-University of Dayton), Jacob Turner (Football-Georgetown College), and Jacob Wehrman (Football & Volleyball-Thomas More University).

Tickets on Sale for 9th Annual Flight Night
Tickets are now on sale for the 9
th Annual Milford Flight Night on Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 5:30 – 10:30 p.m. at the Oasis Golf & Conference Center in Loveland. The Milford Athletic Boosters organizes this annual fundraiser and all proceeds from Flight Night benefit Milford High School's student-athletes. Last year, the event raised a record $45,000!
The featured guest speakers are Cincinnati Reds' Hall of Famers, Joe Morgan and "Mr. Perfect" Tom Browning. Local sports columnist Paul Daugherty will be the emcee for the night.

Milford High School to Host 9th Annual Mattress Sale
The Milford High School Band will be sponsoring Milford’s 9th annual mattress sale on Saturday, February 16. The sale features new, name-brand mattress sets with full manufacturer warranties at below retail prices. Delivery and financing will also be available. Every sale will benefit the Milford High School Band program.
