MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT:
In this week's video message Superintendent John Spieser talks about the
importance of staying safe this weekend and he is joined by a special Halloween guest.
UPDATES & INFORMATION:
STAY VIGILANT, STAY SAFE

While we are not seeing COVID-19 spread within our schools, we are seeing cases increase district wide. There are more and more adults and students contracting the virus from home or from somewhere in the community, resulting in students and staff needing to quarantine. The increase in cases in our community is concerning.

Our goal is to stop the spread of the virus and to keep our In-Person students in our school buildings for as long as possible. Please do your part at home and when you’re in the community. Remain vigilant. Wear a mask, safely social distance yourself from others, and wash your hands regularly. Please perform a daily health check on your child before sending them to school.
WHAT QUESTIONS DO YOU HAVE FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT?

On Tuesday, November 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Superintendent John Spieser will be hosting a "Live Chat with the Superintendent" event on Facebook.

He will answer submitted questions and open the floor for live questions toward the end of the hour.

To participate, please provide your questions or comments using Thought Exchange.

Thought Exchange will be open until noon on Monday, November 16.

Tune in on our Facebook page on the 17th.

NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2020

Don't forget: students do not have school Tuesday, November 3 due to it being a teacher in-service day.
SEEKING VIDEO MESSAGES FROM VETERANS AND CURRENT ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS

Due to current public health circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we will not be conducting the traditional Veterans Day recognitions and programs in our schools as we have in years past. This year we plan to create a video to honor active service members and Veterans and share their stories with students.

We are asking active service members and Veterans to submit brief (2 to 5 minute) video sharing their stories about their service.

Click on the link below to fill out a brief questionnaire and to submit a video.

Videos are due by the end of the day today, Friday, October 30 and will be shown to students on November 10 and 11.

If you have questions please email Anna O'Neill, MHS Social Studies Department Chair.
PRESCHOOL OPENING A NEW
MORNING CLASS

Milford Preschool will be opening a new morning class with a mix of three and four year olds beginning November 16. This morning class will take place Monday through Thursday from 9:05 to 11:35 a.m. Transportation is not provided. The cost is $59.00 per week. Please call Janet Short to make an appointment to register at (513) 728-7400. In order to register your child for Milford Preschool, you must bring the completed Registration Packet, all necessary documentation, and the $65.00 registration fee to your appointment. Check the Preschool's webpage for additional information.
SECOND SEMESTER DECISION FORM DUE TODAY

Today is the deadline to submit the Second Semester Decision Form if you wish to change your child’s learning option. If your child attends In-Person and you want to move them to Eagle Online for the second semester, or if they are in Eagle Online and you want to move them to In-Person for the second semester, you must fill out the form by the end of the day Friday.

Our Return to Learning Plan was designed to offer families flexibility to switch at the semester break. The semester break happens right before students leave for winter break in December. We are asking parents to make this decision now so that we can begin to make the master schedule for Milford High School and Milford Junior High and begin making scheduling and staffing adjustments for elementary buildings. The first day of the second semester is January 4, 2021.

This is really important: If you do not want your child’s learning option to change for the second semester, then you do not have to fill out the form.

If you do want your child’s learning option to change, then you must fill out the form by the end of the day today.

Unless you request a change, your child’s current status of learning In-Person or in Eagle Online will remain the same for the second semester.

By following this timeline, we will review all requests and take action at the beginning of November. Our goal is to finalize and distribute schedules to our junior high and high school students by the time they leave for winter break on December 17. Elementary parents will receive confirmation of their student’s placement by December 17.

FREE MEAL BENEFIT EXTENDED TO END OF SCHOOL YEAR

Last month we announced that the Ohio Department of Education, under the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition Services, notified the district that ALL Milford students district-wide are eligible for free breakfast and lunch through the end of this calendar year. That means 100 percent of students attending Milford Schools (both In-Person and Eagle Online) are eligible for free breakfast and lunch through the end of the school year. Students will not be charged for meals they purchase at school. Eagle Online students who receive to-go meals will not be charged either. If parents have not already registered to pick up meals for Eagle Online students, please call (513) 576-2290 or (513) 576-4160 to order meals and obtain information about pick up. Packages of frozen meals for seven days are available for pickup.

What’s more, we are now able to offer free meals to any child under the age of 18 who resides in any district. Parents need to register first by calling: (513) 576-2290 or (513) 576-4160 to order meals and obtain information about pick up. Packages of frozen meals for seven days are available for pickup.
