 Short but busy week...

Hoping our families enjoyed the long weekend. The weather was amazing...certainly nicer than the rough weather that followed. Some in our MFCS Community lost power and trees and experienced flooding. Hoping things are beginning to return to normal for you.

This week staff enjoyed a full-day collaboration at our 3rd Annual Convening of Northern New England Public Montessori Schools,  on Tuesday Our staff presented some best practices used here, and were exposed to other ideas from our colleagues at River Valley Charter School. Our own Maryclare Heffernan was the keynote speaker. The day provides a special and treasured time to think together about our Montessori practice and what makes this approach to learning unique, creative and engaging.

And if you are looking for some outdoor fun, keep in mind the MFCS Family Fun event this weekend at Beech Hill Farm's Corn Maze. Again, please see below for details.

Please plan to join us for this wonderful display of creativity and joy! Details about the related projects will be coming to you from your children's teachers directly.
See you there!
  Dressing for the Weather

With the summer now in our rear view mirrors, we ask that families please be sure to send children in with appropriate weather gear. As you are aware, the children go outside unless the temperature is below 20 degrees and/or there is inclement weather (rain, snow). Appropriate cold-weather footwear and outer wear are key for a positive recess and fitness experience. Thanks for your help in making that happen!

Montessori Moments...

Fall is in full swing in the Yosemite Room. Our Kinders are doing all kinds of work with the fall theme as they sharpen their fine motor skills (above), and learn to collect and chart data, below - What is your favorite kind of apple?

This week our KinderCare students had the chance to engage with this creative play dough project below, making fall scenes with different decorative elements.

We heard from MFCS Parent, Jen Z, that some Mill Falls Families took advantage of the amazing weather this past weekend and visited a local farm together. So wonderful to combine NH outdoor fun with community building as seen below.

Don't miss your chance to attend a similar gathering this Saturday morning, October 19th at 11am, at the Beech Hill Farm in Hopkinton!

Our Upper Elementary Classes have been studying Growth Mindset. Below is just one example of the kinds of tools they are referencing daily in their work. Take a moment to ask your favorite Upper El Student what they are learning and what Growth Mindset means to them!

Have a great weekend!
