Community Focus
Our next big community event will be the
A HUGE thank you to our Hospitality Committee for providing a most beautiful and delicious catered luncheon for staff at this week's Professional Development / Early Release Day. Our staff spent the afternoon being trained in the use of some exciting new math tools, and your beautiful meal helped everyone focus and enjoy their collaborative learning time. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And YUM!

Earlier this week our Lower and Upper Elementary students walked over to the NH Food Bank, our long-time service learning partner for our 2016 Fall Service Day

Accompanied by their teachers and several parent chaperones, the students worked with focus and speed.

We paired the older students with our younger students at the four work stations the Food Bank set up.

At day's end, the Food Bank reported that we had packed over 1050 bags of Mac & Cheese,  which comes out to about 6,324 meals! These meals will be distributed by the Food Bank to food insecure families across the state.

Thanks so very much to our intrepid chaperones - Madhavi, Surekha, Mel, Julia, Shelly, Jenn, Scott, Andrea, TJ, Melissa and Heather for helping to make the morning such a success!
The Living Wax Museum & Amazing Authors Parade

Our Upper Elementary students are all hard at work preparing for our Living Wax Museum - a presentation of their research related to an important person in history. This year, students will be focusing on a particular and significant moment in the lives of the person they have chosen to study.

Upper Elementary: 2016 Living Wax Museum
Mill Falls Families and Friends,
please plan to join us as we celebrate their work on
Thursday, Oct. 27th from 3:15-4pm.
Each Upper Elementary student will be dressed in character and deliver a first person account of this significant moment.

You won't want to miss it! See you there!!!

Friday Parade!
Our younger friends will show off their work on their
Amazing Author's Project Friday, Oct. 28th at 3pm.
Each student will be dressed as their favorite character in children's literature.

Everyone is invited to attend both events!

This year we are creating a MFCS Family Directory. The goal of this effort is to help members in our Mill Falls Community connect! Included in the Directory will be your name and child's name, classroom, a parent email and a family phone number. Permission from you (or your choice to opt out) was indicated on our Emergency Contact Information form kept in each student's file. If would like to change your permission status, please let Allison know right away by emailing or calling the school.

Building Alliance & Staying Informed

Over the last few months, and more intensely over these next few weeks leading up to election day, when watching TV, reading the newspaper or listening to the radio, you may hear/read paid advertisements that speak very negatively about charter schools in Massachusetts. Given our proximity, some of the media aimed at Massachusetts residents is spilling over the border into New Hampshire.

New Hampshire charter schools have experienced many of the same challenges that charter schools have faced in other states. Despite these challenges, our schools continue to grow and now serve over 3,000 families.

I am thrilled to offer our community a new way of staying informed and involved when it comes to supporting our state's charter schools:
The New Hampshire Alliance for Public Charter Schools  is a non profit, 501c3 organization working to support public charter schools in NH. The Alliance has created a secure, online form that allows charter school supporters to receive important news and updates during the NH legislative session. If you are interested in receiving these updates, please visit:
