Short Week Roundup...

Hard to believe we are already at the close of the first trimester! Today we will be sending home your child's  Fall Progress Reports via our ALMA student information system. These  new-styled progress reports provide a clear listing of the areas of curriculum and your child's progression through it. The new format will provide you with a view that reflects our Montessori 3-year cycle for students in our Lower and Upper Elementary Programs, and maps out the curricular expectations for our Kindergarten students.

See you all on Thursday, November 17th for Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences. A reminder - there is NO school for the children on that day. Child care will be available during your conference time only for $5 per child.

It will be a long and intense day for our teaching staff. Our Hospitality Committee has put together a wonderful plan for a Staff Lunch.  Please click here to view the SignUp if you'd like to share a treat!

Last week we sent home a color print out of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Results which our
3rd - 6th graders took last year. Related, the NH Department of Education made available a parent survey. They are looking for feedback about the Smarter Balanced Testing. If you'd like to participate in the survey,
please click here.

Attending the Night of Community? If you need child care to attend the event, you MUST purchase tickets by noon on Monday and please note space is limited.  Please click here for important details!

We have not had ANY registrations for our 2016/17 Ski Club. If you are planning to sign up, please do so ASAP. We must have at least 15 children to be able to participate. Please see below for details.

Finally, with offer our heartfelt thanks to our the servicemen and servicewomen in our extended Mill Falls Community for their service and commitment to our country on this Veterans Day.

Our own Ms. Colleen D shared her father's WWII Navy Radioman items and treasures with our students today. Here Ms. Laura B displayed some of the many pieces included in his keep safe suitcase.
Night of Community: November 18th

Don't wait another minute to buy your tickets for our upcoming

 Night of Community

at The Quill
on the SNHU campus

Now in its second year, this adult night out will offer wonderful food, great entertainment and
the chance to support our school!

(please note: online service fees do apply)

*** Important Child Care Update ***
If you or one of your guests will need child care (available for $5 per child) those tickets MUST be ordered by noon on Monday, Nov. 14th.
Space is limited.

Those needing Child Care must also:
 - Complete the  University-required waiver form (click here) - one form per child.
Return the waiver  to school by email or hard copy by
Monday at 3pm at the latest.

The completed form MUST be returned to school by Monday, or the University will not allow your child to be at the event!

Can't attend the event, but still want to
support our school? Consider purchasing tickets for your child's classroom teachers!

And have you heard about the bike raffle?
Yes! You or someone you know can ride off into the sunset on the beautiful wheels pictured here. But you gotta be in it to win it! Stop in to purchase your raffle ticket for $25, or send payment in with your child and join in the fun...

All in support of Mill Falls!

We will draw the winning ticket on November 18 at the Night of Community (you do not have to be present to win)!
Work in Progress...

This week our Kinder friends completed their pumpkin study,
working on measurement and estimating. They were joined by
some of our older students as they counted the number of seeds
found in the pumpkins they studied.

Our Lower Elementary students have been studying weather and natural disasters - what makes them and what kind of building structures can withstand the force of nature's storms.
Below, the students tested the structures they created
in an earthquake (read jello) simulation.
The excitement you see below shows the children after witnessing a building structure - made of tooth picks and marshmallows - that sustained little to no damage in the quake.

Parent chaperones are key to the success of this program. Each week, we require one parent here at school to get the kids ready. A parent must also ride the bus with the children. At the mountain, we require 2-3 chaperones - some in the lodge and some on the mountain. Chaperones can ski for free during the lessons as they monitor the children on the mountain.

See you on the slopes!
