Millennium Recycling News— On the Line

New Clean-Up Fee Now in Effect

To help maintain a clean and safe environment, a $125 clean-up fee will now be applied to materials left on driveways, parking lots, or streets that require cleanup. Our top priority is the safety of our team, and having employees clean up scattered materials in streets and neighboring properties presents unnecessary risks.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community safe and clean. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Pricing Update Coming April 1st, 2025

We want to let you know that our pricing will be adjusted in 2025, marking our first price change to our base single stream rate since 2020.

This adjustment is necessary due to changes in the recycling market and the growing need for community education.

We understand that recycling can be more expensive than landfilling, especially when our local landfill fees are some of the lowest in the region.

For context, the national average cost to landfill is $57 per ton, while the average cost to process recyclables at MRFs is $96 per ton. As a private company with no public funding, we work hard to keep our costs as low as possible while continuing to provide quality recycling services.

We appreciate your commitment to keeping recyclables out of the landfill, even when it takes extra effort and expense. Recycling helps meet customer expectations, extends the landfill’s lifespan, and benefits the entire community.

You’ll receive a 60 day notice before any pricing changes take effect.

Thank you for helping build a better future together.

Customer Survey Results: What We Learned

Thank you to everyone who completed our recent survey! Your feedback helps us better support your efforts and improve recycling across the community.

Residential Recycling is Strong:

Most haulers say customers are enthusiastic, with participation rates between 75%-100%. While some customers would like larger bins, most stick with standard sizes.

Commercial Recycling Needs Work:

Not all businesses are recycling. Capturing more material from commercial customers will help keep valuable recyclables out of the landfill.

Education Tools Are Popular:

Many of you already use Millennium’s guides and resources. We’re excited about the interest in our educational trailer and presentations—we’ll be reaching out to those who serve schools or groups to help set these up.

Best Ideas to Boost Recycling:

You told us that school presentations, a mobile app for recycling tips, and community events are the most effective ways to get more people recycling.

We appreciate your partnership and are here to help! Let us know if you’d like to schedule a presentation or need extra guides for your customers.

And congratulations to Corey for winning the DTSF gift card drawing! Thank you to everyone who participated—don’t miss your chance to win in next year’s survey!

New Recycling App Announcement

Great news! We’re working with the nonprofit, BINfluencer, to create a new recycling app to make things easier for you and your customers. The app will let users snap a photo of an item or search for it to see if it’s accepted in their bin.

It’s a simple tool to help reduce confusion and cut down on contamination, making recycling easier for everyone. This app will be available for all haulers to use with their customers.

More details coming soon—stay tuned!

Education Reminder

Millennium offers tours of the MRF and presentations for your team, customers and schools to show what happens to recyclables and help reduce contamination.

We also provide free residential guides and commercial posters to promote what belongs in the bin, as well as waste assessments for any of your commercial customers who may need some extra help!
