It's often said that the recycling markets foretell the trajectory of the economy...and the trends we're seeing tell us we may be in for a difficult year ahead.

As we continue to navigate skyrocketing costs, we will be implementing rate adjustments for problematic materials starting January 1, 2023.

You should have already received a letter with adjustment details (linked here). You'll notice that we have decided to keep our clean material rates below market costs, with no increase, to encourage more quality material.

Many other facilities have used robotics to simply pull out plastic bags and send them (and the entire contents they contain) to the landfill.

If we use them the same way, it would be a huge labor and cost savings for Millennium, but we would see a noticeable loss in recovered materials and a big impact on recycling rates.

The majority of bagged material comes from commercial generators and multi-housing units. If you have these types of customers, please help us by educating them on the importance of keeping bags out of the bin.
