Dear Business Representatives,
We are excited to inform you that the City of Milpitas launched the Milpitas Microenterprise Grant Program today to assist local businesses with financial assistance. The program will provide $5,000 grants to 38 Milpitas microenterprise businesses (5 or fewer employees) that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
To apply for a grant, microenterprises must meet the following program eligibility requirements:
• Have operated in Milpitas prior to March 16, 2017
• Be classified as a retail, restaurant, service sector or “mom and pop” business
• Operate out of a physical commercial storefront within the city limits of Milpitas
• Have not exceeded $2 million in net adjusted income for calendar years 2018 and
2019
• Demonstrate good standing with the City of Milpitas (i.e., active business
license/no code enforcement issues) and California Labor Commissioner’s Office
• Grants may be used for rent/mortgage, payroll, and operating expenses for
products or services in Milpitas
All applications meeting program eligibility requirements and deemed complete will be entered into a lottery. The application period begins today at noon and will be open through Friday, August 21st at 6:00 p.m. A lottery will be held on Monday, August 31st.

The City of Milpitas is partnering with
Enterprise Foundation to act as the program’s fiscal agent and administrator. Enterprise Foundation will utilize its Silicon Valley Small Business Development Center to provide technical assistance in marketing, employee guidance and overall business management to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
