Praise God, my soul; all my inmost being, praise God's holy name. Praise God, my soul,

and forget not all God's benefits - who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who

satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Psalm 103:1-5

Merciful God, as we journey through these Forty Days,

bearing the mark of ashes, may you bless our journey

through the desert of Lent. May our fasting be hunger

for justice’ our alms, a making of peace; our prayer,

the chant of humble and grateful hearts. All that we do

and pray is in the name of Jesus, and for his cross

you proclaim your love for ever and eternity. Amen.
