Greetings!

Peace and Greetings to you!

This weekend, actually Sunday, Mother's Day, is our time to honor our mothers, or those who are and have been those mother figures in our lives. While for many, those mother figures may be someone of the opposite gender, and others our biological or female gendered mother figures, it’s a time for us to take a moment to honor and say: “Thank You” and “I Love You” to these individuals for molding and guiding us throughout our lives. This Sunday, we honor all of our mothers, for being that important nurturing figure in our lives.

We gather this Sunday for worship, and I’m excited that we get to continue our sermon series that we’ve titled: Milwaukee MCC at the Movies. Join me this Sunday for Worship at 11:00AM at Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church, as we continue to look how some of Hollywood’s GREATEST films are filled with biblical truths. As Christians, can we find faith in film? So, come and find out, and learn, as we continue with the movie Frozen II.

Also, as we plan ahead, I invite you to mark your calendars, for Sunday, May 15th, when we will gather after worship for our monthly “Brunch with the Pastor,” from 12:30pm to 2:00pm at Centraal (details below). Make sure you mark your calendar as well, for Saturday, May 21st, for our ALL-CHURCH WORKDAY. Join the board and I as we continue to beautiful our church building inside and out. More details below and to follow.

And don’t forget to get your chance tickets to have the opportunity of placing a pie in my face for our Pie in the Pastor’s Face Pride fundraiser. This possibly once in a life time event will take place on Sunday, June 19th, at our Pie in the Pastor’s Face Community Potluck, following worship (details below).

As always, there is so much happening in the life of Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church, along with our community. Please take a moment to scroll down for what is happening in the life of our congregation and community!

As always, I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday Morning!

Blessing to you!
Scripture: John 16:5-15

Now I am going to the One who sent me—yet not one of you has asked, ‘Where are you going?’ You’re sad of heart because I tell you this. Still, I must tell you the truth: it is much better for you that I go. If I fail to go, the Paraclete will never come to you, whereas if I go, I will send her to you. When she comes, she will prove the world wrong about sin, about justice and about judgment. About sin—in that they refuse to believe in me; about justice—because I go to Abba God, and you will see me no more; about judgment—for the ruler of this world has been condemned. I have much more to tell you, but you can’t bear to hear it now. When the Spirit of truth comes; she will guide you into all truth. She won’t speak on her own initiative; rather, she’ll speak only what she hears, and she’ll announce to you things that are yet to come. In doing this, the Spirit will give glory to me, for she will take what is mine and reveal it to you. Everything that Abba God has belongs to me.

As we celebrate Mother's Day this Sunday, May 8, 2022

We'd like to wish all those individuals who are the Mothers and Mother Figures in our lives
a very Happy and Blessed Mother's Day!

An Opportunity TELL and SHARE YOUR STORY at Pridefest

PrideFest is seeking submissions of personal narratives, about 500-1,000 words long, to feature in the 2022 interactive History Exhibit. We want you to tell us about a time when you experienced shame, marginalization, or bias based on your LGBTQ+ status and how you overcame it. You could also tell a story of a time when you felt a great sense of pride, camaraderie, bravery, or self-assertion in your identity.

Whether the story is heartwarming or heart-wrenching, our stories are powerful tools to build community, empathy, solidarity, and courage. Our lives and our stories matter!

Curators will select stories to print on posters. Starting on Friday, June 3 at PrideFest, we will invite patrons to read the story submissions and react to stories that resonate with them personally. Patrons will also have the opportunity to share their own “pages in someone else’s survival guide.”

More Details: If seeing your story on a poster and being read by 40,000 people might cause you trauma, DO NOT submit it! Stories submitted will displayed to the public. They may be heavily copy-edited for length and content. Curators will make every effort to ensure that stories are anonymous if desired, but there is the potential for connections to be drawn between the specifics of a situations and the people involved.

UFMCC Helps Ukraine by making Financial Contribution

Our hearts are breaking with the people of Ukraine, as they deal with life-or-death decisions in response to the Russian invasion. We want you to know that MCC (on all of our behalf) immediately contributed an initial 1000€ to our partner organization, ACCEPT*, in Romania.

ACCEPT and our other MCC-allies are on the ground to assist LGBTQ+ people and their families as they rush to evacuate the violence in their homeland.

We urge you to back up your prayers with tangible support, as much and in as many ways as you are able.

If you auto-give, through your financial institution, or already give online, we THANK YOU. But, if you have typically placed your gifts in the offering plate each Sunday, we also offer other options when giving to the church.

There are several ways YOU can make either a one-time donation or even a recurring donation. Here are the ways you can make that happen:
  1. Through our Secure Online Giving Portal, or either of our two PayPal links. You can go to our Secure Online Giving Portal and/or our PayPal Giving Link for your regular offering or one time giving. You can also go through our regular PayPal Link if you’re wanting to start and set-up a recurring monthly giving for your offering. Click on either of the links below to make that happen.
  2. You can mail your offering via check or credit card by using one of the pre-printed offering envelopes that have been distributed to all our members. Simply insert your check in the envelope or complete the information on the inner flap, should you choose to donate by credit card, and return it by mail. If you are in need envelopes, please contact the church, either by leaving us a message or emailing us at info@milmcc.org. We will be happy to send some to you.
  3. You can send your offering via check in a regular addressed envelope to: Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church, 1239 West Mineral Street, Milwaukee, WI 53204.
