Malvern Retreat House was impacted by the recent storms that ripped through our area. The Lourdes Grotto was nearly destroyed.
These last few months have taken a toll on all of us. But, the sacred grounds of St. Joseph in the Hills have always been a place where we can find peace in the beauty around us. At this sacred place, the troubles of the world can seem far away and the connection to the Creator fills the soul with trust and peace. That is why, the sight of this destruction shook all of us to the core.
With the complete COVID shut-down behind us, the first phase of re-opening is in place. The loss of income continues to be a heavy burden, but powerful retreats these last few weeks have kept us moving forward. Last week, however, the repair and restoration costs for the Grotto felt like an insurmountable task.
And, then amidst the sense of hopelessness, something beautiful happened. Generous donors responded to this URGENT PLEA from President, Mark J. Poletunow. It was more than we could have imagined! We share their inspiring words with you, so that you might be touched by their sense of hope and gratitude.
“We are so very fortunate to have Malvern Retreat House in our area. Now, more than ever, the faithful need the spiritual environment of these facilities and grounds. To see the recent devastation to the Marian Grotto in the YouTube video and to hear Mark Poletunow’s call for help simply could not be ignored. My wife and I have been long time retreatants who have been very blessed and saw this request as a call from Our Lady to assist in the restoration of this beautiful shrine and place of quiet prayer. We are pleased to be able to answer this call. May Our Blessed Mother, Mary, come to us in our time of need.”
Their gift has allowed us to begin repairing the Shrine. We are so grateful! Much more is needed, and we pray that their example will inspire many of you to support the Grotto repairing and to keep moving Malvern Forward!

RETREAT GROUPS RETURN!!
Flame of Love
It was wonderful to have the Flame of Love Retreat group with us at Malvern Retreat House for 2020. The group was awesome! They graciously responded and supported the implementation of our new COVID guidelines, and their team worked with our Malvern staff in providing a virtual option. It was exciting that more than 250 people joined in virtually. Attendees were inspired by the words of the speakers, the message of Mary's love and the inspirational presentation by Father James Blount, SOLT, Dr. Antone Raymundo and Msgr. Ralph Chieffo. Thank you Flame of Love, thank you Blessed Mother!
Men and Women of Malvern Retreats
A number of limited attendance retreat groups have returned to Malvern Retreat House or have retreats scheduled in the upcoming weeks! We have also added a virtual option for upcoming retreats, as well as pre-recorded evening sessions. In addition, very soon, we will incorporate one-day retreats for the Men and Women of Malvern. Thanks to L.J. Ferdinand and Our Lady Queen of Peace, Edward J. Friel Memorial and the Chester County groups for your commitment to continue at Malvern Retreat House. It is great to have you back onsite! Please visit our calendar to view the upcoming offerings.
