Ask the Recruiter

Question:

I have always dreamed of becoming a flight attendant, but I am only 5' 0" tall. Will I be disqualified because I am too short? Thank you in advance for your response.

Answer:

Because you're between 5'0" and 5'1", you're below the minimum height requirement for most major airlines. There is a good reason for this minimum requirement: You may not be tall enough to reach the overhead compartments which are between 72 and 82 inches high. But, don't let this discourage you. Many airlines have no minimum height requirement and only require you to pass a "reach" test. Check the specific height requirements for each airline before you take the time to apply. If you find yourself "locked out" of the major airlines because of your height, take a look at the smaller commuter airlines; commuter aircraft are much smaller, making height less critical.

Good luck!
