Appeal Court agrees to hear witnesses in the Mark Mingo case
PHILIPSBURG -- The Appeal Court agreed to allow 5 of the 6 witnesses proposed to be heard in the case of former Harbor Group of Companies CEO Mark Mingo by the Judge of Investigation. The Attorney General only admitted 3 witnesses but the Appeal Court overruled the decision of the Attorney General. Attorney for Mark Mingo, Mr. Cor Merx in an invited reaction told StMaartenNews.com that he was very happy for his client to have gotten the main players in the Harbor case to be questioned by him via the Judge of Investigations. The court case is scheduled - in principle - for the 25th of October this year.

An unprecedented 15 witnesses to be heard in Pompeii case
PHILIPSBURG -- In the case of Pompeii wherein El Capitan and Petit Chateau are accused of human trafficking, the judge agreed with all the 15 witnesses requested to questioned by attorney Cor Merx. According to Merx the judgment against his clients was more or less only based on statements without the defense lawyer having had the possibility to verify the content of these witness statements. In the first instance the Judge of Investigation was not able to trace these witnesses because the police wiped out the names and the addresses of the women involved. Merx was never able to find these women and question them. Merx and his client are very satisfied with this decision of the appeal court. The court case will be continued on the 9th of December of this year.
