CUMC PreschoolOpen Position: Preschool Director

Central is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Preschool Director. The director is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and supervising teachers; coordinating registration; planning special events; managing the budget and payroll; and working with the Preschool Committee to develop goals and implement programs. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, understand the importance of blending Christian education with a strong preschool curriculum, and relate well to children and adults. Experience in teaching and administration, as well as an educational background in early childhood education, are also beneficial. Contact Kim Dowd (662-3218) for information.

Music MinistryAn Update from the
Minister of Music
Search Committee

The Minister of Music Search Committee has received 21 rsum and application packages from an impressive array of potential candidates for this position at Central. Most applicants are from the Carolinas and surrounding states, but we have received some from as far away as Chicago and Seattle.

The committee is in the process of identifying the top three candidates who will travel to Central separately over the last three weeks of July. While they are here, they will have time to meet with our ministers and staff, acquaint themselves with the music library, organs and other instruments, and plan a worship service using the lectionary. Before their formal interview with the selection committee, they will meet the Chancel Choir and conduct a practice on Wednesday nights (7/18/12, 7/25/12, & 8/1/12). We hope to have the position filled before the end of September.

Even while we continue to mourn the loss of our beloved Bill Mills, we believe this is an exciting time of possibilities for Central, and we look forward to matching the best available candidate to our already substantial music program. We hope that one of the first additions to this ministry will be the re-establishment of an active and dynamic Youth Choir in the next few months. If you have an interest in participating in any one of our choirs, now is a perfect time to join us in enhancing the worship experience for all of us, to the glory of God. If you have any questions, or if you would like more details on how to join or assist the Chancel Choir, any of our three Children's Choirs, Handbell Choir, Orchestra, or the new Youth Choir, please contact the church office, one of our ministers, or any member of the Search Committee.
