For Our Partners

Rev. Joshua Patty

Regional Minister and President

I look forward to joining many of you at Ministers Institute next week. It will be a good opportunity to catch up and to talk about the present and future of our shared ministries.

The rest of my note isn't actually for you. It's for your spouse/partner. Please share this opportunity for connection with other spouses/partners of ministers.

Pastor Partners is a new community launched in 2023 to provide space for folks who are married to or in partnership with a pastor/clergy person and wish to connect over that shared unique role. The group meets online via Zoom. Monthly gatherings are on the first Tuesdays of the month at 7 pm Central.

Note: the group is for those whose partners are in active ministries as well as retired.

If interested, please email one of the facilitators: Jennie Shirey, Amy Yandell, or Miranda Reece. Jennie resides in Columbia, MO, where her husband David is the Interim Lead Pastor of Broadway Christian Church. Amy lives in Greensboro, NC, where her husband Michael is the Sr. Minister of First Christian Church. Miranda lives in Louisville, KY, where her husband Ben is the Sr. Minister of Hurstbourne Christian Church.

February Clergy Chat

The next Clergy Chat with Regional Minister Joshua Patty will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 1 pm. Link for Zoom meeting.

ALEX Reporting Begins

ALEX reporting opened January 16 and continues through March 4. Congregations can now enter Yearbook statistics online here.

We share these basic statistics as part of our covenantal ministry. They offer a snapshot of your congregational ministry. Taken together, they help our region and general ministries better understand our search. They also create a historical record for future generations. (And, for many congregations, IRS recognition of their non-profit status relies on their inclusion in the Yearbook.

An online help center is available. Or you can email with specific questions.

Week of Compassion Offering

Week of Compassion is the emergency relief, refugee, and development ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The annual special offering is invited on February 18 and 25

Week of Compassion provides a number of worship resources each February. These include: sermon starters and scripture commentary; children's sermon, prayers, invitations to offering and mission moments, prayers, and more. Access all of these resources here.

Celebrations

Prayers of celebration and support in ministry are offered for colleagues in recognition of moments marking ministry within congregations.

Congratulations to Don Naftz, who has been called to serve as pastor of Bloomfield Christian Church.

Congratulations to Laurie Pound Feille, who is a part of a cohort shaping upcoming preaching programs for Luther Seminary in Saint Paul. She is one of 10 graduates of the Bibilcal Preaching DMin program that will help create peer learning communities of preachers through a Lilly Grant for Compelling Preaching.

Congratulations to Tammy Cameron Buseman and Gary Sneller who complete their ministry as co-pastors of interim ministry for Marion Christian Church, Marion, IA. A service of gratitude will be held January 28.

Congratulations to Jason Grow who will be installed as pastor of Mitchellville Christian Church, Mitchellville, IA. The installation is scheduled for February 4.

Prayers for Clergy Colleagues

There is a holy and sacred responsibility for each of us to hold one another in prayer. Colleagues of all ages experience health issues, life-altering experiences filled with concern and joy, as well as the fatigue and energy of ministry. Take a moment to offer prayer for one another.

Prayers of comfort for Stasia Fine on the passing of her grandfather, Roger Welty. Obituary

Prayers for support as First Christian Church, Davenport and Faith United Church of Christ, Davenport continue their journey toward merging as one congregation under the name First Faith Community Church.

For your reflection:
