Some Resources

Rev. Joshua Patty
Regional Minister and President

Holy Week is quickly approaching, so I imagine you have plenty to do. So I just want to highlight a few things that might help or interest our this month.

First, a special time of prayer for ministers during Holy Week. Tiff Williams, Liz Woodward, and I will lead a 15 minute prayer time on Monday, April 11 at 1 pm. Here is the livestream link.

Again this year, our region will provide a recorded sermon that can be used in your ministry after Easter. Tiff will be preaching. Instructions for accessing this sermon will be sent soon.

When natural disasters occur, many people want to help. We encourage financial contributions be made through Week of Compassion. Some want to offer more hand's on responses. Week of Compassion is partnering with others to create a network for congregations Willing to Respond. Learn more about this new network.

Looking for information to share about Ukraine or perhaps prayers to offer in worship? Week of Compassion has a special tab of their recent updates, including prayers in the February 24 and March 4 updates.

Disciples Mission Fund has created a new video explaining "What is DMF?" FYI - they will be removing the previous video later this month.

The April 27 webinar from New Church Hacks will explore how trauma-informed ministry can help people recover from the many recent traumas of recent years.

And, if you just can't enjoy one of my notes without supplemental reading, here's a piece by Thom Rainer. He summarizes five surprising and troubling tends drawn from the massive 2020 Faith Communities Today study and recent data from late 2021. Quick takeaway: worship attendance is declining and congregations are getting smaller; giving to church seems to be holding steady.
