MEET FERNANDO

Fernando never imagined God would use his life the way He has.

Growing up in Guatemala with only a second-grade education, he never believed he was capable of ministry.

Reading was difficult, and he assumed leadership was for people with far more education.

Through Global Action's year-long Foundations program, Fernando received practical biblical training that he could immediately apply in his ministry while continuing to serve in his own community. As he studied Scripture, grew alongside fellow church leaders, and developed a deeper understanding of God's Word, Fernando discovered that God equips those He calls.

With the help of his teenage son, Luis, who studied alongside him each night, Fernando persevered through the program. Together, father and son graduated as top students in their class.

Today, Fernando is living out what God prepared him for.

He leads two weekly children's Bible clubs in some of the poorest communities in Guatemala, where children are hearing about Jesus and taking those Bible stories home to their families. As parents began staying to listen, the ministry naturally expanded beyond the children.

A friendship with a local police captain also opened an unexpected door. Fernando now leads a bi-monthly Bible study for local police officers, bringing God's Word to those serving their community.

Fernando once believed he had little to offer God. Today, children are discovering hope, families are engaging with Scripture, police officers are studying the Bible, and lives are being changed, all because one man trusted that God could use him.

Fernando's story is a reminder of what God is already doing through His Church.

Around the world, God is raising up faithful church leaders who are serving their churches and communities with a deep desire to know His Word. Many simply have limited access to the biblical training that can help them grow in their calling.
