MINNIE'S IS MOVING!!!

On April 1, 2008, I founded Minnie's Food Pantry to honor my mother, Minnie Ewing. she was able to watch the community serve in her name for 7 years. As we approach the four year anniversary of her passing, we are honored to share with you that with the news that Minnie's Food Pantry will be moving our headquaters into our "forever home" in late June or early July. This move will double our current capacity and will provide our charity with 28,343-square foot of space in east Plano for us to make a difference.

The past 11 years we have provided 9 million meals to families in North Texas, New York and Pennsylvania. We are thrilled to obtain a stand-alone home of its own to serve as distribution hub, state-of-the-art volunteer center and a site for Minnie's Resale Boutique. Our new home, which was obtained through the help of collaborative realtor and long-time community partner Cawley and Partners, is currently being renovated to fit our updated custom programs for the future. We are literally going from giving them a fish to teaching them how to fish.

With the increase in space, we will be able to provide a variety of training classes, host job fairs at our new Minnie's M-Powermenrt Center and continue to provide supplemental food assistance to all those who walk through our doors. There remains a growing need to combat food insecurity, and we continue to be one of the leaders in North Texas. Our goal is to go out of business one dayby providing job skill training for our families and other s in the community which will allow them to obtain long-term employment with better wages.

We are excited for the future of our organization, we are thankful to all of our volunteers who help us serve the thousands of clients we see each month. Without our dedicated volunteers and donors, Minnie's Food Pantry would not have received the award for the #1 Charity in DFW or named Plano's Community Partner of The Year, 2018. Your support, time, trust, and your servant-heart are priceless.

Minnie’s Food Pantry is honored to be a recipient of a Green Mountain Energy Sun Club Grant in an effort to advance sustainable communities.

Since inception, Minnie’s Food Pantry has placed an emphasis on the word “ healthy.” It is through healthy eating, healthy finances, and healthy minds that lives can be transformed and long-term food security can be achieved. Over the years, this mindset has become more of a lifestyle, and we are honored to partner with Sun Club to take our healthy organization one step further, by utilizing renewable energy provided by a 120 kW Solar Array.

Funding from Sun Club will leave a lasting impact on Minnie’s Food Pantry and our community by offsetting (conservatively) 51% of our annual electrical utility usage. This offset allows us to provide 44,529 meals annually by reducing expenses associated with electricity usage AND is equivalent to:

303,240 Miles driven by an average passenger vehicle
135,587 pounds of Coal burned
15,814,727 Smart Phones Charged
Carbon sequestered by 146 acres of U.S. forests in one year

Minnie's Food Pantry 11 Year Anniversary

Minnie's Food Pantry celebrated our 11th anniversary with a cook-out for our clients and volunteers. We grilled 122 burgers and 88 hot dogs and 15 turkey burgers, jammed out with our live DJ! Last week, we had the honor of serving 442 families and providing 9 hours of educational training in partnership with LegacyTexas Bank!
