Have you been watching the unicameral? Well, the filibuster ended last week... but WHY?

Your URGENT Action is NEEDED!! Biggest call to action yet!!!

The LB574 & LB575 Shenanigans!

  • LB574 (Let Them Grow) would prohibit the performance of gender altering procedures for individuals under the age of 19. This is a common sense no-brainer and the bill is out of committee (in General File). Senator Arch has scheduled the bill for debate on the floor at 9:00am, Tuesday, March 21st. Although this might sound positive, the reality is the timing for the vote is bad and intentional because two conservative senators are "out" this week with long-planned absences, and another conservative Senator is recovering from an emergency hospital visit. As such, this bill will not have enough conservative votes to pass in order for it to move forward. This timing represents political shenanigans. On one hand Speaker Arch can say he is putting the bill to a vote, while behind the scenes a deal was struck with Senator Michaela Cavanaugh so she would stop her filibuster, in essence telling her that we don't have the votes to pass LB574 next week, so let us proceed with a vote.

**LB574 will be on the floor for debate at 9:00am Tuesday and Wednesday for eight hours of debate with a vote scheduled for Thursday!

  • LB575 (Sports & Spaces) seeks to keep K-12 student athletes in sports and locker rooms based on their biological sex. This bill is still in committee and Senator Clements has made this his Priority Bill. It appears, however, that the bill is in jeopardy of not making it out of committee as per the recommendation of Speaker Arch. We cannot let this go unnoticed!

CALL TO ACTION:

Come to the Capitol on Tuesday and/or Wednesday at 9:00am - the days that LB574 (Let Them Grow) is scheduled for floor debate - to show support for the bill, thus letting Speaker Arch know that this is being watch closely and his actions have not gone unnoticed!

Call or email Senator John Arch, Speaker and tell him to DELAY the debate on LB574 until the conservative Senators return. Also, tell Speaker Arch to support LB575 getting out of committee! Please do so politely and professionally.

The LB626 Switcheroo!

LB626 (Heartbeat Act) had the support of Senator Merv Riepe... until didn't... without an amendment. In recent days Senator Riepe has added a major amendment to the bill that makes abortions legal up to twelve weeks, where the original verbiage make abortions legal up to six weeks. This change -- from six weeks to twelve weeks -- is evil as science shows that babies at twelve weeks are fully formed, all of their vital organs have been developed, and they can feel pain.

CALL TO ACTION:

We need to reach out to Senator Riepe to encourage him to rescind this amendment and remind him of his previous commitment. See Senator Riepe's comments here (at the 40 second mark of the video). **Please do so politely and professionally.
