Girls Indoor Volleyball had an incredible season with all three teams! Frosh/Soph, JV, and Varsity — sweeping the Bay League undefeated.
The Varsity team competed at the highest levels at both CIF and State tournaments as well as national tournaments. By the end of the season, CIF ranked Mira Costa 6th in the state. National polls like USA Today and Prep Volleyball ranked Mira Costa among the Top 20 teams in the nation. Thank you coaches Cam Green, Nancy Mason, Nicole Rouche and Chris Flood, families, administrators, student fans and community sponsors for incredible support all season!
Congratulations to senior college commits Ellie Geoghegan (San Diego State), Skylar Gerhardt (Villanova), Shannon Knight (Lafayette), Molly Trodd (Tulane - beach vb), and Bella Young (UC Santa Cruz) who will undoubtedly bring their grit, power and team camaraderie to their college teams next year.

Cross Country Advances to CIF Finals
What does it take to run 3 miles in 87-degree heat which includes hills named “Valley Loop”, “Switchbacks”, “Poop Out Hill” and “Reservoir Hill”? It takes guts, mental strength, committed training, balanced nutrition, supportive coaches, and strong teamwork to pull off winning both boys and girls Varsity races at the CIF Preliminary last weekend at Mt. SAC. Both teams return to Mt. SAC to move on to compete in the CIF Finals this weekend. If they succeed, they will continue to State Finals in Fresno, CA two days after Thanksgiving.

Congratulations to Dalia Frias (Duke) and Ella Parsley (UCSD) for their commitment to run in college which was celebrated at the MCHS Fall Signing Day.

Basketball Season Has Started!
On Veteran’s Day, the Girls Basketball team welcomed 5th through 8th grade girls to Fisher Gym for our Mini Mustang Clinic. These young athletes had a great time in the gym with the Varsity Girls Basketball team and worked hard on skills and drills in our impressive new facility. We hope to welcome many of them to the team someday! What a great opportunity for them to see our gym, and work with our players. Thanks to our coaches and team for facilitating, and thanks to all who attended!!
November 15th marks the first day of basketball season – be sure to check out our schedule and come out to cheer on the girls and boys basketball programs. It’s going to be a great season!!
Mira Costa Lady Ruggers Host Fall Mini Tournament
The Lady Ruggers of Mira Costa season is fully underway as the sport has adopted the Fall Season. The move to the fall has allowed girls that also play soccer, basketball, and softball to finally be able to play and experience the great game of rugby.

This year’s addition of Ruggers is led by Senior Captain Nisi Tuitupou. Nisi is a four-year player and an outstanding player as well as being a fantastic team leader. Nisi is supported by two juniors to help bolster the Mustangs, Kamyjah Blackwell and Fede Sorrentino (our Italian exchange student). Both young ladies bring some physicality to the program while the rest of the side is rounded out by some solid underclasswomen.

Two weeks ago the ladies hosted sides from Carson, Los Alamitos, and Cathedral Catholic High Schools. The Mustangs did an outstanding job and have brought back our program from last year’s cancellation of the season due to covid.

As for our boys, our schedule is slowly coming together (also another victim of covid).

Girls's Soccer Hosted Annual Skills Camp
The Mira Costa Girls' Soccer team hosted their annual skills camp on November 11th. Over 100 kids from kindergarten thru eighth grade took part in a high-energy camp focusing on the key skills needed for success on the field.

The team appreciates the opportunity to share their knowledge and love of the game with the next generation and is grateful for the community support this camp receives every year.

Mira Costa Girls' Soccer begins its season on December 1st at home against El Segundo. Follow the team at
