How long does static control flooring last?
Static control flooring has two lives: the life of the ESD properties and the physical life of the floor.

Some static control floors can physically last a long time but have a limited life for ESD properties. After time, the floor will not control static electricity—even though it might appear to be in pretty good shape. Epoxy floors are a good example of this, as most are fairly durable but the ESD properties fade over a few years and need to either be replaced or re-coated.

Conversely, most vinyl floors have lifetime ESD properties and a shelf life of more than 20 years.

When buying an ESD floor, it’s important to know what the expected life of the floor and the ESD properties to make sure this fits with your operations. If you have For specific questions about the life expectancy of a specific type of ESD flooring, please give us a call at 508-583-3200.
We had a fantastic time at this year’s IPC APEX Expo earlier this month in San Diego. The event has really become a great networking opportunity for those in the electronics manufacturing industry and has led to a number of great connections for us the past few years. It also gave us a chance to get together with many of our reps.

If you haven’t been, you should really consider the trip. Next year’s expo is January 26-28, again in San Diego.
