How long does static control flooring last?
Static control flooring has two lives: the life of the ESD properties and the physical life of the floor.
Some static control floors can physically last a long time but have a limited life for ESD properties. After time, the floor will not control static electricity—even though it might appear to be in pretty good shape. Epoxy floors are a good example of this, as most are fairly durable but the ESD properties fade over a few years and need to either be replaced or re-coated.
Conversely, most vinyl floors have lifetime ESD properties and a shelf life of more than 20 years.
