Press release
For immediate release,
Vancouver, November 24, 2020,
Update on Covid-19 pandemic safety measures and the maintenance of services at Le Centre Culturel Francophone de Vancouver.
To all our friends and clients at Le Centre Culturel Francophone de Vancouver.
Further to the announcement on Thursday, November 19, 2020, of new restrictions imposed by the public health authorities in British Columbia, to address the significant spike in the number of infections with the SARS COV2 (COVID-19) virus over recent weeks in the territories under the authority of the Vancouver Coastal Health and the Fraser Health Authorities, Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver is announcing that its cultural and artistic activities will from now on be accessible online until the restrictions are either lifted or relaxed.
British Columbia’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, announced that all artistic performances with public attendance are suspended until further notice. Therefore, we regret to announce that we have postponed the concert with Louis-Jean Cormier initially planned for Saturday, November 21, 2020, to a future date.
The collaboration with Kanen and Matt Stern, resulting from a three-day artistic residence, will only be broadcast online on the scheduled date, Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 8 p.m., on the website lepointdevente.com. It will also be presented online free of charge, on Friday, November 27 at 1 p.m. in two schools in the Francophone School Authority of British Columbia: the École Au-cœur-de-l’île in Comox and the École Gabrielle Roy in Surrey, in collaboration with the PassepART program.
The special Christmas story time for children, “Storytelling”, planned for December 5, 2020, will be accessible online on the Zoom platform, with our hostess Lucile. The Philosopher cafe session on December 7 will also be accessible online with our host Laurent Fadanni. Let's get together as well as the knitting group are cancelled. The exhibition “Conquer the Dragon” will be open at Le Centre until December 17.
The Christmas market scheduled for Saturday, December 5 is cancelled. To support the vendors who wanted to participate, we are offering them an opportunity to showcase their products to the francophone and francophile community of Greater Vancouver free of charge on our website.
Le Centre culturel and our Media Library will remain open for normal hours until the closure of Le Centre for Christmas holidays from December 20, 2020, to January 3, 2021, inclusive.
