What is 5-Axis Machining?

  • A push toward single-setup machining (sometimes referred to as “Done-in-One”) to reduce lead time and increase efficiency

  • Improved tool life and cycle time as a result of tilting the tool/table to maintain optimum cutting position and constant chip load

  • Less human error or incorrect alignment and therefore less scrap parts.

  • Use of short tools avoids vibration and results in higher quality surface finish and eliminates the need for hand polishing.

  • Increased tool life and reduced tool breakage: save on tooling and fixture costs.
