Every January we see & hear people making 'New Years Resolutions' all over the place. But really, what we all need to do is have an honest sit down with ourselves to look at who we are and who we are becoming. Being in business is no different, it serves us well to review our company financials, demographics and other analytics to ensure we are moving in the right direction--not just in January, but all throughout the year.
So in this edition we let you in on the planning we did and will continue to do; share some stories of others who have made directional changes after reviewing their lives and invite you to get introspective and make some (possibly hard) decisions. And note, we are not calling them 'resolutions', they are decisions and choices that will need to be made daily in order to see the fruits of your labor.
It's OK, just feel the fear and do it anyway!

January 2nd marked our first company meeting of the year: Lisa & I sat down to discuss the current status of All Pro Builders Inc. and we also discussed the Mission & Vision of the future of All Pro. With the recent 'remodel' of our
website, I felt the need to really tell the
complete back story and that led to a deep assessment
and a lot of prayer to determine if we would be moving forward with the business o
r if God was changing direction for this season of our life.
You see, a lot has happened since 2008 (the great depression); what we did before in our business does not work today. The cost of business since then has soared, our numbers just don't work. So, I decided to pray for 30 days before moving forward; I also did prayer walks around our office during that time. Those 30 days seemed like an eternity for me, but it was good. I had confirmation we were staying put and moving forward.
I am excited about our future, we have to finish and complete all of our standard operating procedures, or as I say SOPs. Then we'll begin to train the leadership team, who then will train existing staff & crew and our outside subcontractors on all systems. We are going to become a company of trainers who are systems driven, who know what they do, as well as how and why they do it--no area is left to interpretation. We are setting the bar very high which is necessary if you want to expand, grow and be in the Top 1% of successful remodelers. We want to create a rich and a rewarding environment for our team-they are as important to us as our customers. We want them to know how important family and our community is to us. We want to create a level playing field that rewards them for their hard work we want them to be accountable to the systems and each other, which are quality driven for the customer.
We not only want to be pros at remodeling, we need to be intentional about educating and training; not just educating our team, but training our customers on the process as well. Just like
IN-N-OUT, we have systems and processes in place to keep us in check, to remind us where we came from, and to set the high standards for where we are going.
Using the
IN-N-OUT business model as an example in our planning, it seemed only natural to share with you the
video above of Lynsi Snyder (President of
IN-N-OUT) who recently shared her story with I Am Second about the direction she was headed, and the changes she has made in her life.
What better way to honor God and serve our team and customers and community? It's a win-win for everybody.
Paul

Mission | Vision
| Values
Last month our new website launched and included on the site is a page detailing our
Mission,
Vision & Values. We'd like to share them with you here in this month's eNews:
MISSION
Our mission is to adhere to our guiding principles of honesty and integrity in all areas of our business from start to finish.
We take very serious the second commandment, "Love your neighbor as yourself". We know that God brought us together for a reason. It is never just about the project; it's always about the relationships. It is about the community that God places us in and how we choose to walk together in this journey together called life. We are called to give our life away. Mark 12:29-31.
We commit to offering open lines of communication, keeping a positive attitude while facing the inevitable challenges, and providing the highest quality workmanship. We greatly value our client relationships and by working together as a team, a successfully completed project for us means more than just completing another remodel, it means we have also gained a friend.
VISION
HONESTY & INTEGRITY. then. now. always.
These are not just words we dreamed up to create an image; they truly are our guiding principles. They guide us in all that we do and in all of our communications; whether with a customer, a subcontractor, a vendor, an employee, or even a husband, wife, son, daughter or even a stranger.
The statement is actually derived from two Bible verses: Proverbs 2:7-He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. And Hebrews 13:8-Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. What better place to find something to emulate? God's word is our moral compass.
We've applied these principles to every customer relationship since our humble beginnings [then], we make a conscious choice to build upon them today [now], and will continue to follow them in our future [always].
VALUES
To honor God in all that we do by serving others, by doing great work, by giving back to the community that is so gracious to us, by forgiving others, by encouraging, by lifting each other up and always looking for the best in each person. This type of environment is rich with ideas and ways that we can each grow, change and improve.
- To agree more and argue less.
- To listen more and talk less.
- To produce more and advertise less.
- To confess more and accuse less.
- To laugh more and fret less.
- To give more and receive less.
- To pray more and worry less.
This value statement is a challenge to me personally, to remind me where we came from and where we are going. It calls each of us to be a better person, and I believe it calls the company and our clients to a higher purpose. It is when we take our eyes off of ourselves that we can better serve each other and our common goals unconditionally.
