One Heart. One Hope. One Mission.
MESSAGE FROM MISSION ADVANCEMENT
...thank you for being our partner in mission!
Dear Friends,

Last weekend was a special mission experience!  Sr. Antoinette Marie Moon and I had the privilege of speaking on behalf of our global missions, through the Mission Cooperative Program of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. We visited St. Rose of Lima Parish in Simi Valley--our neighbors. In greeting the parishioners after Mass, I met
  • Friends of Sr. Teresita Keliher, previous Director of Religious Education there.
  • A classmate of the late Sr. LaReina Kelly from Notre Dame Academy.
  • A couple inspired by the Bible Study program led by the late Sr. EmilieAnn Palladino at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Encino.
  • Kathy and Tony Kourounis, parents of Emily Kourounis, a La Reina alumna.
  • Mrs. Ann Theobald, mother of Sr. Colette Theobald, currently serving in East Africa. How powerful to be able to introduce the mother of a missionary to a congregation!
  • A 4-year-old tyke who will be attending Notre Dame Learning Center in the fall and who is enamored by Sr. Carol Marie Papet.
  • And many others!
We never know the impact of our lives! As our partners in mission, each of you shares in our ministries to thousands of God's people...thank you for your continued spiritual and financial support.

Blessings always,
Director of Mission Advancement Services
PS--Special thanks to SND Associate Candidate Patricia Guzman, who translated our appeal into Spanish, and to Sr. Paulynne Tubick and Sr. Mary Frances Wahl, who also gave mission appeals in other dioceses this summer...

FROM THE CALIFORNIA GRAPEVINE
East Africa update
Congregational leaders Sr. Kristin Battles and Sr. Sreeja Chittilappilly (center and right in the photo) recently visited Arusha, Tanzania. Their time there included converations regarding realistic and prioritized plans for the future and the inauguration of a water project for the Maasai people of Simanjiro.

Sr. Christine Syombua, Delegation Superior, (on the left in the photo) wrote: “We deeply thank these two daring leaders for the love they have for our mission here in East Africa. This was love in action! The spark they have given us during the past three weeks is lighting up the flame within us. We were truly enriched and reenergised by the wonderful thoughts and ideas we got from them. We thank God for their guidance.” Read more.
What makes us tick

During the past year more than 50 sisters from various areas of SND USA were interviewed about their life, ministry and how the charism motivates them. The highlight of the project is a short video that features personal stories and thoughts about being a Sister of Notre Dame. Special thanks to Ann Clark, Co-Director of the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Office, for coordinating the project.   Follow this link for the video.
How one cannonball changed the course
of St. Ignatius' life, and changed the world!
The Sisters of Notre Dame cherish the Ignatian spirituality which is part of our tradition. To celebrate the Ignatian Year 2021-2022, the 500th anniversary of St. Ignatius’ conversion, 26 contributors have come together to create a free e-book of Ignatian prayers, poems, reflections and illustrations entitled “Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places: Through the Year with Ignatian Spirituality.” To download the e-book, follow this link, enter your information and then click the “Sign Up” button.
