We hope you're enjoying the final days of Winter Session at Mission College. This will be quite the busy week.


Starting Wednesday, January 24, and continuing through Thursday, January 25, Mission College faculty and classified professionals will lead Learning Sessions about an array of critical discussion topics.


Then, on Friday, January 26, All College Day will take place. The President’s Office will host a morning breakfast, followed by a campus welcome and program, lunch with music, and more. Additionally, R&D Facilitation will delve into the ongoing significance of our equity work during the event.

Food Distribution Set For Parking Lot D This Week

The 2nd Harvest Food Bank Distribution will be in Parking Lot D every Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to noon. Open to the Mission and local community, the distribution operates on a first-come, first-served basis, offering drive-thru or walk-up stations. Also, the distribution has been cancelled for January 30. Regular operation returns on February 6. For more information, visit shfb.org.


Financial Aid Workshops Set For This Month

Students are welcome to learn how to overcome financial barriers and pursue academic goals by attending an upcoming Financial Aid Workshop. They will discover a range of scholarships, grants, and loans customized to meet specific needs. In-person assistance will be available on Wednesday, Jan. 24, from 4-7 p.m. at the Welcome Center in the Student Engagement Center. Read more.

Mission College Dual Enrollment Kickoff Night

On Thursday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m., Mission College will host its "Dual Enrollment Kickoff Night" at Gillmor Center, Room 103. This event welcomes new dual enrollment students and their families for a brief orientation, offering insights into the transition from high school to college, tips on effective time management, and information about campus resources. Valhalla Park Grand Opening

Is Friday

College employees are invited to the Grand Opening of Valhalla Park, West Valley College's new Baseball Complex, on behalf of Chancellor Bradley Davis. The West Valley Vikings are playing the American River Beavers at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26. The field is at 14000 Fruitvale Avenue in Saratoga.

Volunteer For Welcome Week At Mission

Mission Market: Combating College Food Insecurity

Mission College is addressing food insecurity through Mission Market at the Campus Center, a specialized food pantry aimed at fulfilling the nutritional needs of students. With easy access to fresh produce and essential dry goods, currently enrolled students can receive free groceries and kitchen staples from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, during the Winter term.

Learn, Connect, Explore!

Students are invited to dive into a day of learning, community, and abundant resources that cater to everyone at the Book Bash Extravaganza. From exploring the Library's wealth of free resources to navigating the Virtual Bookstore for convenient access to class materials, this event ensures the start of a fulfilling academic journey this semester. Stop by January 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the Business Technology Building. Read more.

African American History Celebration In February

Celebrate African American History at a pair of engaging events in February. Join Professor Donnelle McGee as we celebrate the great works of African Americans in films and arts. Snacks will be provided. All are welcome at 11:30 a.m. February 20 in the Student Engagement Center (SEC), Room 203. Also, join the annual African American History Celebration & Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. February 28 at the Bistro Cafe, featuring a special interactive experience called "Shattering" by Dr. Juhanna Rogers, a passionate speaker and artist committed to social justice and education. Read more.

This Winter Session

KJ's Cafe is ready to serve you during the Winter term at the Student Engagement Center (SEC) through January 25. The cafe will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, providing a cozy spot for you to relax and recharge.
