Mission College's campus will be closed during this festive winter holiday season starting Friday, December 22, through Monday, January 1.


We still have some notable events this week, though:


The Missionanigans Toastmasters' Toast to the Holidays event will be Monday, Dec. 18, from 6-8 p.m. in TAV, Room 130, and on Zoom.


Construction work will be taking place on campus this week with the Solar System Project progressing with the installation of a fast charger in Parking Lot E and preventative maintenance work across various buildings.

Mission College Set To

Install Fast Charger

Mission College's Solar System Project is set to advance with the installation of a fast charger in Parking Lot E between 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, December 22. The construction will be contained within designated areas marked by construction barricades and caution cones. The campus impact, including the designated work zone and traffic management details, can be found on the attached map.

Mission College Prepares For Transformer Maintenance

To enhance campus infrastructure and minimize future power shutdowns, preventative maintenance work will be conducted across various buildings. Individual power shutdowns from Monday, Dec. 18, to Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., have been carefully planned to avoid interference with college events and daily activities. Read more.

Mission College Gears Up for A²MEND Summit

Mission College employees are invited to the 17th Annual African American Male Student Success Summit hosted by the African American Male Education Network and Development (A2MEND) organization from March 6 to 8, 2024, in Los Angeles. The goal is to foster collaboration and generate innovative ideas to enhance the success of Black male students within California's community college system. A²MEND is a nonprofit organization comprised of African American male educators who voluntarily leverage their professional expertise to operate a statewide mentoring program for Black male college students. Mission College is excited to send a team of students, faculty, staff, and administrators to participate in this enriching experience. If you are interested, express your interest by completing this form. The deadline for form submission is Monday, December 18, at noon. Mission Gears Up

For NCORE In Hawaii

Mission College is assembling a team comprising faculty, classified professionals, and administrators to participate in the 36th Annual National Conference on Race & Ethnicity in Higher Education (NCORE) from May 28 to June 1, 2024, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The conference focuses on the intersection of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, and class in campus programming and cultural environments. The call for presentation and poster proposals aligns with the Pledge to Our Keiki, a framework for the 2024 NCORE theme, emphasizing relationship, belonging, and family in the service of future generations, reflecting the values being integrated into Hawai‘i's educational system. Interested individuals should submit their interest by Friday, January 12, 2024, prioritizing those submitting an NCORE workshop proposal by the Monday, December 18 deadline. Missionanigans Toast: Holiday Cheers, Pizza Delight

Join the Missionanigans Toastmasters' Toast to the Holidays event on Monday, Dec. 18, from 6-8 p.m. This gathering will be in TAV - 130 and on Zoom and provide a festive farewell to the Fall Semester and a warm celebration of the upcoming holidays. Bring your friends and family to this joyous event. Read more.

2nd Harvest Food Bank Distribution: Open to All

The 2nd Harvest Food Bank Distribution is every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Parking Lot A. The distribution is open to all Mission students and community members living in the Santa Clara Valley on a first-come, first-served basis, with both drive-thru and walk-up stations available.


Empower Your Education: Financial Aid Workshops

Students are invited to receive financial aid support tailored to their needs this Tuesday, Dec. 19, on Zoom from 1-2 p.m. Zoom ID: 934 3107 6826. Students can empower their education by unlocking opportunities for scholarships, grants, and loans, and explore the Enrollment Fee Grant, providing tuition-free education for all students in our district's service area.

League Launches Scholarship Program for Students

In its commitment to enhance affordable education, the Community College League of California (League) introduces a scholarship program for Spring 2024. Ten California Community College students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship, funded by proceeds from the 2021 book "A College for All Californians: A History of the California Community Colleges," co-edited by League President & CEO Larry A. Galizio, Ph.D., and George Boggs, Ph.D., president and CEO Emeritus of the American Association of Community Colleges. Have students apply here.

AANAPISI Scholarships: Support For Students

The AANAPISI Scholarship Program, in partnership with AANAPISIs and their communities, aims to offer scholarships, enhance institutional capabilities, and mobilize local resources to support economic development. The online application is open through January 9. Scholarships are available in amounts ranging from one-time $2,500 awards to multi-year $10,000 awards. For additional details, visit here.
