Hello from the CEO!
Mission Driven Moves

It has been a busy summer for Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority. We began major renovation work at one of our family sites, took tours of properties that were transformed through RAD by our co-developers and just recently a new initiative came to light. The ROC (Resource Opportunities Center) Grand Opening was held August 12th at Winton Hills Academy. Joining us in the celebration of the ROC were State Representative Sedrick Denson, HUD Field Officer Tom Leach, Findlater Gardens and Winton Terrace residents along with other stakeholders and partners.People attending the celebration took a tour of the two locations, met the ROC staff as well as the service providers that have agreed to connect with residents by helping increase the quality of life. The ROC is CMHA Mission driven work as the centers will help promote self-sufficiency for families. Thank you to everyone who diligently worked to get the ROC locations open! If your organization is interested in learning more about being a part of the ROC, email Ms. Kosik for details.

Creating entrepreneurial opportunities is another goal of the CMHA Mission. The preservation and transformation of CMHA housing stock will generate millions of dollars in Hamilton County and more job opportunities. We are currently working on an economic impact plan that will expand our reach to more Women-owned, Minority-owned and Section 3 businesses. The plan will also mean more career training opportunities for families we serve and low-income individuals. All of these moves promote neighborhood stability which is another measure of the CMHA Mission. Once the plan is finalized we will share more information about how you can be a part of it.

Last but not least, CMHA property West Union Square was awarded the NAHRO Award of Excellence for Project Design. Congratulations!!! The National Association of Housing Redevelopment Officials Awards of Excellence highlight ways in which housing members make a difference in communities and in the lives of people served. We are making a difference throughout Hamilton County and I truly Thank You all for your commitment to helping CMHA become a long-term asset in our area.

Kind Regards,

Awards2019    CMHA Captures the Prize
Twenty three public housing authorities (PHA) in 15 states are awarded $5.2 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to make needed improvements to safety and security systems. Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority is one of the 23 PHAs to receive a grant. The grant, totaling more than $185,000, will be used to improve security and address resident safety at the agency's Rion Lane location.

Also during the NAHRO Summer Conference in Boston, CMHA walked away with an Award of Excellence in Project Design for West Union Square. West Union Square is affordable housing for seniors 55 and older. The building is home to 70 one and two bedroom units designed to have the look of a quaint small town Main Street. Team members Deborah Sparks and Shonda McMillian accepted the award.

 developervisits Developer Visits
Earlier this year CMHA selected Gorman & Company to preserve Findlater Gardens and Winton Terrace, Michaels Development to preserve Millvale, Telesis to preserve Liberty Street Apartments and Stanley Rowe, and finally Wallick Communities to preserve Beechwood and Maple Tower. Meet and greets were held so residents and stakeholders could meet the developer teams. Over the summer the CMHA leadership team visited the developer partners to get a first-hand view of the developer accomplishments in cities across the country. Pictured below are sites the co-developers transformed.
