The LDA is dedicated to continuing our mission to Keep our Desert and Community Livable and Thriving throughout the new year and beyond. We will accomplish this by focusing on issues important to this mission by:
- Promoting thoughtful growth that meets the needs of our community and environment.
- Protecting the interests and providing a voice for all Pima County residents, including marginalized citizens, desert plants and animals.
- Supporting communities in need through shared education and member involvement.
- Educating Pima County citizens and our public servants on the importance of a viable, healthy, long-term water supply.
- Supporting community efforts to battle entities whose actions and intent endanger our environment, its inhabitants, and our future.
We cannot do this alone. You can help!

Become Involved!
As the new year moves forward, the LDA asks our members to make a commitment to become involved. No, not a new year resolution. They are often created and quickly abandoned. We are asking you to make a realistic, obtainable commitment to be an active participant in your community on any level that is comfortable for you (or maybe a bit uncomfortable).
It can be as simple as attending an educational opportunity provided by one of our partners to become a better steward of the environment or signing a letter of support for a cause promoted by our partners or attending an open public meeting to fill seats so officials will know that the cause you showed up for is important to you. It can also be as simple as forwarding one of our weekly newsletters to a friend or family member that may be interested in an issue or call to action we have promoted.
Your action does not need to be a giant leap (although, feel free to leap far!), but a simple step that, when added together with others taken by our 1547 LDA members, moves the needle further in the direction of positive change.
