The Bishop's Address at the 124th Diocesan Convention

Western Massachusetts elects Miguelina Howell as its 10th bishop

"[Episcopal News Service] - The Very Rev. Miguelina Howell, dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford, Connecticut, was elected the 10th bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts on Nov. 15.


Howell was elected on the first ballot during the election. She received 62 votes of 99 cast in the lay order and 46 of 76 cast in the clergy order.


The election took place during the annual diocesan convention held at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.


'We are in this together,' Howell said via Zoom to the delegates of the convention."

"This business session over Zoom will feature an election for a Provincial Executive Committee at-large member and consideration of the 2026 Provincial Budget.


Additionally, we will be holding two pre-conference Zoom meetings. On Thursday, December 4 from 7-8 p.m. there will be an orientation session for new Provincial Delegates led by the Provincial President, Olive Swinski, as well as the Coordinator. On Monday, December 8, from 7-8 p.m. there will be a walk-through of the proposed 2026 budget with the Provincial Treasurer."

Managing Yourself During Conflict

"A practical and prayerful training to equip clergy and lay leaders to respond more effectively when conflict arises.


This weeklong workshop is framed around the Daily Office and provides a safe, prayerful space for participants to notice, contemplate, and strengthen their approaches to conflict. Participants will learn their preferred conflict response styles and explore ways to effectively use other response styles."
