North Plainfield experiences disastrous flooding with one killed in the Borough and two more deaths in Plainfield. One house exploded. Two have been condemned. About 100 houses were flooded.

We have a non profit housing corporation, Friends of the Carpenter, created by the churches 40 years ago that is coordinating some recovery efforts and providing assistance to low and moderate income homeowners and renters. Working with the mayor, we are seeking donations from the county, foundations, churches and individuals with a goal of $100000. We have initial funding to assist affected families with $20000. Checks can be mailed to

Summertime is here! As we look forward to the warm days ahead, it's time to do the seasonal clothing change from winter to summer. Our Sunrise House family, Emily and her 16 year old son, Shane are in need of some summer clothes. If you or anyone you know is able to help provide for Emily and Shane, please sign up. Thank you so much!

Update: We need egg cartons! Please share any you have.

The donated food supply from local supermarkets varies weekly while the number of families attending is increasing.

A major monthly expense of the food pantry is purchasing plastic bags for packaging personal care items such as shampoo, laundry detergent, toothpaste & toilet paper. If anyone knows of, or has a connection with a company producing or distributing these items, please contact D'Maris. We are hoping for ongoing donations or reduced pricing on these items.

Questions? Please call the church office at (732) 356-3575

or reach out to: D’Maris Dempsey or Diane Gilson.

Food insecurity is an ongoing issue for many, and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are two vehicles through which the Federal government helps provide food to people in need. Both programs are potential targets as the new budget takes shape. Please consider contacting your congresspeople to show your support for these essential programs.

PLASTIC FILM RECYCLING CHALLENGE!

Earth Stewardship is our responsibility as we collectively care for creation. We recognize the enormous and potentially devastating impact plastics have on our environment. One small way we can make a difference is the NexTrex Plastic Film Recycling Program.

BBPC will be collecting single-use plastics for recycling. We will partner with NexTrex to earn a park bench with our recycled plastic. To earn our bench we need to collect 1000 pounds of plastic by March 2026.

We encourage you to bring your plastics to BBPC, and drop them in the marked boxes. Plastic MUST be “clean”, dry, and free of food/waste residue. We cannot accept plastic that is filled with trash, waste, or is dirty.

If you have questions regarding what can and cannot be recycled, please see below or click the link below to go to the NexTrex website:
