SHOPRITE GIFT CARD PROGRAM

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The ShopRite card fund is dangerously low

and in need of donations.

This week, we are focusing on a single mother and her ten-year-old daughter who have been living in their van with two emotional support dogs. Due to pet restrictions, they do not qualify for emergency housing services and are in need of food security to ensure they have access to fresh meals. The family utilizes HOME's day center to prepare and eat meals, along with accessing other basic needs services. Gift cards have significantly improved the well-being of this family.

We kindly ask you to consider supporting this program by donating ShopRite gift cards or making a monetary donation earmarked for ShopRite gift cards (please specify this in the memo line).

Your donations will enable us to purchase the cards at a 5% discount. If you'd like to donate electronically, you can select the "Love Local" option on EZ Tithe.

Thank you for your support!

“Do You Know Who Zufall Is?"

Zufall Health is one of 13 organizations that has received a $1,000 donation from BBPC, via the Mission and Outreach Commission, for the past several years. For many members of the congregation, your first question may be “Who is Zufall Health”? In a nutshell, Zufall Health is a non-profit organization that provides affordable medical and dental care to underserved people regardless of their income, insurance or other barriers. The first clinic, which opened in Dover NJ in 1990, operated on a once-a-week basis with a volunteer staff that included Dr. Robert Zufall and his wife Kathryn. Over time, additional doctors, dentists, and support staff began to volunteer their services, and the patient base grew.

In 2004, Zufall Health became a Federally Qualified Heath Center, which means they receive federal funding (12% of Zufall’s budget), and their staff is part of the federal workforce. Zufall Health now operates seven days a week and has medical and/or dental locations at 14 locations spread across northern and central NJ (including Somerville), plus a mobile Delta Dental van. While their medical services are not free, Zufall Health charges patients on a sliding scale based on their income – and no one is refused care if they cannot pay.

Zufall Health has been a consistent partner at the Sunday Pantry, providing blood pressure and diabetes screenings and cancer prevention education.

BBPC is proud to continue supporting their amazing work!

Bound Brook High School Robotics Team Illustration

ROBOT REVEAL

Through a donation from the Mission and Outreach Commission, BBPC is a proud sponsor of the Bound Brook High School Robotics Team 56 – R.O.B.B.E. Every year, the team develops a robot that will compete against other high school’s robots in a series of competitions designed by FIRST robotics. In January, FIRST unveiled the theme for the 2025 season – and the tasks the robot needs to accomplish to score points. Since then, Team 56 has been busily building their robot to manage aspects of this season’s challenge. On Feb. 27th, sponsors of BBHS Team 56 were invited to the 2025 robot reveal. Since the theme this year is REEFSCAPE25, the tasks for the robot include moving coral onto a reef (hanging PVC pipes on a rack), vacuuming algae (tossing large yellow balls into a basket) and docking at a station for retrieval by the mother ship.

We hope Team 56 has a fun and successful season!

PLASTIC FILM RECYCLING CHALLENGE!

Earth Stewardship is our responsibility as we collectively care for creation. We recognize the enormous and potentially devastating impact plastics have on our environment. One small way we can make a difference is the NexTrex Plastic Film Recycling Program.

BBPC will be collecting single-use plastics for recycling. We will partner with NexTrex to earn a park bench with our recycled plastic. To earn our bench we need to collect 1000 pounds of plastic by March 2026.

We encourage you to bring your plastics to BBPC, and drop them in the marked boxes. Plastic MUST be “clean”, dry, and free of food/waste residue. We cannot accept plastic that is filled with trash, waste, or is dirty.

If you have questions regarding what can and cannot be recycled, please see below or click the link below to go to the NexTrex website:
