Help. HELP. Make that HELP!!!!! Yes, we have serious staffing needs for the HOME folks that will be sheltered at our church the week of 11/30. As Taylor Gram reminded us in church yesterday, the church is not the pastor. The church is not the building. The church is all of us!!!! And we need people to welcome and care for the homeless family, perhaps another, that will be living with us from Sunday, 11/30 through Saturday night, 12/6. Specifically, our needs are:

Sunday 11/30 - 1 setup personal 11:15 after church

Monday 12/1 – 2 people for the 5-8 shift

  1 overnight person from 8pm – 8am

Tuesday 12/2 – 1 person for the 5-8 shift

  1 person to make dinner

Wednesday 12/3 – 1 person for the 5-8 shift

Thursday 12/4 – WE ARE GOOD! Yay church!!

Friday  12/5 – 1 person for the 5-8 shift

1 person to make dinner

Saturday 12/6 – 1 overnight person from 8pm to 8am

Sunday 12/7 – 1 cleanup person before Sunday School from 8am-9am

A birdie tells me that the person who organizes and makes this program happen every few months at BBPC, holds the entire week open. Why? So that she can cover all the shifts that are not covered by members of the church. Really? We cannot let that happen!

If we are the church, then we need to fill these slots. It is easy to do. Open The Buzz. Go to the HOME sign up section and, voila, there you will be able to pick the slot that works best for you.

Providing a warm and welcoming place for these families without homes is doing exactly what Jesus has asked us to do when he reminded us, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of the brothers or sisters of mine, you did for me.”

By taking a shift, you will not only do as we have been asked to do by Jesus, but you will feel proud and fulfilled. You will be the church!

Update: We have enough egg cartons for now. Thank you!

The donated food supply from local supermarkets varies weekly while the number of families attending is increasing.

A major monthly expense of the food pantry is purchasing plastic bags for packaging personal care items such as shampoo, laundry detergent, toothpaste & toilet paper. If anyone knows of, or has a connection with a company producing or distributing these items, please contact D'Maris. We are hoping for ongoing donations or reduced pricing on these items.

Questions? Please call the church office at (732) 356-3575

or reach out to: D’Maris Dempsey or Diane Gilson.

SHOPRITE GIFT CARD PROGRAM

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The ShopRite card fund is in need of donations.

A recent recipient of our Shoprite card program:

A single elderly woman is currently experiencing homelessness after months of searching for affordable housing without success. Despite her efforts, rising rents and limited availability have left her without a safe place to stay. Gift cards help her purchase ready-to-eat meals, fruits and vegetables.

Please consider supporting this program by donating ShopRite gift cards or making a monetary donation earmarked for ShopRite gift cards (please specify this in the memo line).

Your donations will enable us to purchase the cards at a 5% discount. If you'd like to donate electronically, you can select the "Love Local" option on EZ Tithe.

Thank you for your support!

PLASTIC FILM RECYCLING CHALLENGE!

All paper labels must be cut off Amazon bags

No cat or dog food bags please

Earth Stewardship is our responsibility as we collectively care for creation. We recognize the enormous and potentially devastating impact plastics have on our environment. One small way we can make a difference is the NexTrex Plastic Film Recycling Program.

BBPC will be collecting single-use plastics for recycling. We will partner with NexTrex to earn a park bench with our recycled plastic. To earn our bench we need to collect 1000 pounds of plastic by March 2026.

We encourage you to bring your plastics to BBPC, and drop them in the marked boxes. Plastic MUST be “clean”, dry, and free of food/waste residue. We cannot accept plastic that is filled with trash, waste, or is dirty.

If you have questions regarding what can and cannot be recycled, please see below or click the link below to go to the NexTrex website:
