Friends, it has come to our attention that some of the links in yesterday's email were not working properly. Hopefully this email will fix those issues. Thank you for the support.

Volunteers Needed

HOME program returns May 18-25

HOME of Somerset County, Inc. provides care and counseling for families in need during the day and houses of worship, like BBPC provide a warm meal, a safe place to sleep at night, and fellowship for the families.

We are looking for volunteers to make and serve dinners, spend time with our guests and stay overnight.

We count on our many volunteers to make this effort a success and give our guests the care that makes BBPC feel like home. If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Dougherty at: sbdoc2012@gmail.com

Putting the FUN in FUND-raising!

On May 7, Tricia Flynn organized a Paint and Sip fundraiser for the Sunday Pantry.

Thirty four members and friends enjoyed sweet treats and fruit punch while a professional artist guided the group to paint unique and colorful works of art!

The FUN raised $800 for the Pantry!

The donated food supply from local supermarkets varies weekly while the number of families attending is increasing.

A major monthly expense of the food pantry is purchasing plastic bags for packaging personal care items such as shampoo, laundry detergent, toothpaste & toilet paper. If anyone knows of, or has a connection with a company producing or distributing these items, please contact D'Maris. We are hoping for ongoing donations or reduced pricing on these items.

Questions? Please call the church office at (732) 356-3575

or reach out to: D’Maris Dempsey or Diane Gilson.

Food insecurity is an ongoing issue for many, and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are two vehicles through which the Federal government helps provide food to people in need. Both programs are potential targets as the new budget takes shape. Please consider contacting your congresspeople to show your support for these essential programs.

PEB Schools News

The PEB schools including Martinpur, where we support 25 girls, are not near the area which was recently attacked. Kashmir is far from the schools. Things are peaceful now, and please continue to pray for our students and Pakistan.

The Mission and Outreach Commission, which currently administers the fund, is accepting applications for scholarships for the 2025-2026 school year.

All active members of the church who will be attending junior college, college, university, seminary, or other post-high school educational institution this fall are encouraged to apply for a grant from The Church Scholarship Fund. This fund was established in 1989 and was made possible in part by a gift from the estate of Ruth H. Born, in memory of her parents, Edwin & Christina Legge.

Email the church office to request an application copy. Completed forms need to be submitted to the church office no later than May 30, 2025.

Please email all forms, if possible, to the church office (office@bbpc.org). And please note that the essay may also be submitted as a one-minute video. If you have any questions regarding the Fund or application, please contact the church office by email or phone (732) 356-3575.

PLASTIC FILM RECYCLING CHALLENGE!

Earth Stewardship is our responsibility as we collectively care for creation. We recognize the enormous and potentially devastating impact plastics have on our environment. One small way we can make a difference is the NexTrex Plastic Film Recycling Program.

BBPC will be collecting single-use plastics for recycling. We will partner with NexTrex to earn a park bench with our recycled plastic. To earn our bench we need to collect 1000 pounds of plastic by March 2026.

We encourage you to bring your plastics to BBPC, and drop them in the marked boxes. Plastic MUST be “clean”, dry, and free of food/waste residue. We cannot accept plastic that is filled with trash, waste, or is dirty.

If you have questions regarding what can and cannot be recycled, please see below or click the link below to go to the NexTrex website:
