A Letter to Mission Presbytery: The Gift of John Knox Ranch

Rev. Bobby Musengwa

Transitional General Presbyter

Listen up! Please put your phone down and pay attention! Take a break! I have something important to tell you!

I write to you today with an overflowing heart, reminding you about a unique treasure we have here at Mission Presbytery — John Knox Ranch (JKR) — a place apart, where the Holy Spirit is actively transforming young lives and strengthening our faith community.

Making History Today: The Closing of a Seminary

Late last month it was announced that as of July 31, 2026 Memphis Theological Seminary, the school of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, will close its doors. Because the Cumberland church and the Presbyterian Church (USA) are partners in the PHSSW, this is an especially painful decision.

We See You!

Because Presbyterians love installations

On Sunday, February 8, at 2:00PM, Mission Presbytery held an installation service for Rev. Ryan James Gaffney at the Presbyterian Church of Gonzalez in Gonzalez, Texas.

The Rev. Bobby Musengwa, Transitional General Presbyter, preached the installation sermon. The Rev. Monica Smith, Moderator of the Presbytery, read the constitutional questions. The Rev. Laurie Palmer, Stated Clerk of Mission Presbytery, prayed the installation prayer.

There was great celebration with sumptuous food prior to the service and great rejoicing after the service.

Congratulations to Rev. Gaffney and the Presbyterian Church in Gonzalez. To God be the glory!

Because Presbyterians love posing for posterity

The time capsule at First Presbyterian Church in Junction commemorating 2025 and 100 years of FPC, is buried directly under the Dove stain-glass window (a paver will be placed marking the spot).

Because Presbyterians love to work together

Members of First Presbyterian Church in Lampasas join with their sister churches in the Ministerial Alliance to package 10,000 meals for Rise Up Against Hunger January 31, 2026.  It's a nice illustration of banding together for a common mission project that would be too big for any one church to pull off.
