Because Presbyterians march for MLK Day

Several Presbyterians took part in Monday’s MLK Day Parade in San Antonio. Pictured above is University Presbyterian Church of San Antonio; Madison Square Presbyterian Church appears in the “We See You” section below, and Divine Redeemer was also spotted along the route.

University Presbyterian Church of Austin also marched in Austin’s MLK Day celebration.

SPDR Update: Winter Storm

Please take care to be sure your homes and church buildings are winter ready. This weekend, we are expecting freezing temperatures and precipitation around all of our Synod. Meteorologists are noting similarities to the 2021 Winter Storm Uri. Some northern areas in our Synod are anticipating over 8 inches of snow!

Make a safety plan for vulnerable family members and church members. Church elders/deacons/pastors or your congregation's disaster response teams are encouraged to designate a person or team to stay in contact with vulnerable members, and identify a safe alternative shelter with them in advance, in the event of power loss. Call vulnerable church members to remind them of winter preparedness steps, and encourage them to have blankets and portable heaters ready, especially.

Following Jesus: Nimbleness Rooted in Trust

Rev. Bobby Musengwa

Transitional General Presbyter

You don’t need a strategy when you have a trustworthy guide. They walked with Jesus. That was enough. They didn’t understand where it would lead. They couldn’t have predicted what would happen. But they knew who they were following, and that made them free — free to adapt, free to respond, free to move when Jesus moved.

Keynote Speaker: Rev. Kathy Anderson

Hosted by: Rockport FPC and El Divino Salvador

Luke 5:1-11

Family Ministry Resources

To support the educational ministry in your context, the Learn Committee has compiled resources for your use.  We’ve found that while these resources can be used with all ages, they are specifically geared toward children and families.

Whether you have a volunteer or paid staff member leading your children and family ministries, please use the link to review the available resources.  You might see some familiar things listed, or you might learn about something new!

If you would like to suggest a resource for this list, please submit it here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf-dcUEACNUly4CuTs-vp79PFpVRW1SAfh0kdo8xzGCxaw-hg/viewform?usp=header
