From Rev. Libby Janes, Director of the Synod Partnership for Disaster Recovery:
Be very cautious this week on roadways due to flash flooding. Some flash flood alerts have been happening over the past couple of days, and more flash flooding is expected this week. Please see the map above from the National Weather Service with rainfall projections.
Here's a Texas Department of Transportation state resource that tracks road closures: https://drivetexas.org/?ll=-97.6200,30.4017&z=9
Flood Safety Tips:
- Turn Around, Don’t Drown®
- Never drive through flooded roadways.
- Stay out of floodwaters; they may contain debris, contaminants, and hidden hazards.
- Avoid downed power lines and report them immediately.
- Keep phones charged and maintain multiple ways to receive weather warnings.
Please let me know if any additional support is needed or if your church or members do experience flood-related damage. I know these warnings are especially difficult as we remember the anniversaries of the 13 people who died in flash floods in San Antonio on June 12th 2025, and the July 4th 2025 floodings, when 139+ people around Central Texas died. This week's weather alerts are critically important to save lives, but I also know they can remind us of painful memories from last year, and feel retraumatizing. I'm holding this week's caution and the ongoing long-term recovery efforts in prayer, and I'm here to support you if you need a colleague to listen.

Summary of the Stated Meeting of Mission Presbytery | |
The best part of every presbytery meeting is seeing each other! Hugs. Laughter. Good work. Delicious refreshments! Youth were at the meeting and spent the night at the church. They had a good time, and they prepared liturgy for Saturday morning’s worship service.
We thank Parkway Presbyterian Church in Corpus Christi for being such good hosts. They were helpful, caring, and fed us well!

This in-home family preservation program stabilizes families during a crisis such as death of a parent, divorce, violence, substance abuse, poverty, neglect or illness. Our Child & Family specialists meet with children and their families in their homes to assess the overall family situation, identify problems, and articulate needs. At no cost to the families, PCHAS helps to preserve families through education, training, counseling, therapy, and other community resources.
PCHAS helps families identify strengths and determine areas of needed growth. It helps the family create their own goals and promote stability by offering parenting and life skills classes, including financial planning, resume building, career building and more. It helps families locate and access community services, as well as providing family and individual counseling. In short, PCHAS helps children and families find hope and know the love of God.
Last year, 2025, the Corpus Christi Child & Family Programs served 100+ children and almost 50 families.
