A Pastoral Reflection for Holy Week

By Rev. Bobby Musengwa

Transitional General Presbyter

As we come to the end of Lent and enter Holy Week, may we continue to pray: for peace, and the end of war. For the end of violence in all its forms — including the violence of intimidation, of online cruelty, of civil strife. For the children who carry wounds they did not ask for. For the congregations who are being tested. For those who speak truth at personal cost.

EMAILS... Oi! Am I Right?

There's a new spam email from a "fake" Bobby Musengwa circulating asking for a copy of churches membership directories. Please check the email address whenever you receive an odd email request. Bobby did not send this request and the email should be blocked immediately.

More Email Woes...

This week the Presbytery office switched from Gmail to Microsoft Outlook. Our email address DID NOT change. However, when we made the switch there was a glitch and a Per Capita email that was sent last year was resent (several times apparently) to the churches. Please disregard this email and accept our apologies for the multiple emails.

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE emails??

If you are on a committee that uses an @missionpby.org email address, and you cannot log in, please contact Melody so she can reset your password. Please note, you will need to download the Microsoft Outlook app to access the emails now.

We appreciate your patience during this change.

Why this pastor wears Converse sneakers to lead worship

by Rev. Dr. Josh Robinson in The Presbyterian Outlook

The shoes remind me that ministry requires feet willing to go and hands willing to serve. The gospel is not abstract. It is carried by people who put on their shoes and show up.

This week, please join us in praying for the staff and families impacted by Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services.

Regional Grants Now Offered

The Connect Committee of Mission Presbytery is excited to offer a $1000 grant to each region in the Presbytery. The grant money is available on a first come first serve basis. The only requirements for the grant are that it be used for a gathering that fosters connection and fellowship among congregations in the region and that everyone in the region is invited (e.g., it cannot be a youth-only event).

To claim the grant for your region, fill out this form. A member of the Connect Committee will respond to let you know if your proposal meets the requirements and if the grant is still available for your region.

The application for Better Together Fund grants is now available. Better Together Fund grants are an opportunity for two or more Mission Presbytery congregations and additional ministries to receive funding for anew collaborative project to help connect, learn, and serve within Mission Presbytery. More information and the application form are available at this link. Applications are due April 15.

March 2026 Leader Formation Newsletter

Along with teaching elders, ruling elders are called to ministry with responsibilities in several areas of the life of the church, including exercising leadership, governance, spiritual discernment, and discipline.

Regarding Ruling Elder articles for the next few years will explore some of these foundational roles allowing opportunities for reflection, education, exploration, and prayer for those who serve as, and with, ruling elders.

Synod Youth Workshop 2026

For over 67 years, Synod Youth Worship has provided a place, a space, and time for God’s work of creating new life-time relationships. Participants in Synod Youth Workshop will experience God’s presence through opportunities for worship, prayer, scripture exploration, and community service in small and large group gatherings. Small groups provide a ‘safe place’ to explore faith questions, while sharing fun and laughter beyond measure. Many participants throughout the years have described the conference as a life-changing event. We hope you will consider attending Synod Youth Workshop in 2026.
