Born in Fire and Wind: The Day of Pentecost and the Diverse Church of Jesus Christ

Rev. Bobby Musengwa

Transitional General Presbyter

“On the very birthday of the church, God spoke to every person in the language closest to their own heart. The Holy Spirit, in that moment of fire and wind, declared a vision for the church that is breathtaking in its scope: everyone is welcome here. Everyone is heard here. Everyone belongs."

Prepare - Respond - Recover: Tornado Edition

Rev. Libby Janes

Director, Synod Partnership for Disaster Recovery

Disaster preparedness is not just about surviving the storm — it is about strengthening relationships, communication, and community resilience before disaster strikes, responding with compassion during crisis, and walking alongside neighbors through the long journey of recovery.

This week, please join us in praying for John Knox Ranch as the staff gathers in the coming weeks for training and prepares for a summer full of campers!

On Saturday, May 9th, accompanied and witnessed by friends, family, colleagues, and fellow travelers, Mission Presbytery ordained the Rev. Libby Janes, Director of the Synod Partnership for Disaster Recovery, to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament at Chapel on the Hill at Presbyterian Mo-Ranch Assembly.

As Director of the Synod Partnership for Disaster Recovery, Libby’s ministry already reflects compassion, resilience, and hope, and we give thanks for her continued leadership among us, as well as for Mo-Ranch’s gracious hospitality in hosting this sacred and celebratory occasion.

GA News Resources

General Assembly is coming fast — and if you’re trying to keep up, you’re not alone.

That’s exactly why we’re building out a full set of resources to help you follow GA227 with clarity (and without the overwhelm). This week, we opened pre-orders for our bulletin inserts, designed to help you share what’s happening with your congregation before and after the assembly. And on June 17 (see article below), we’ll host a free, live webinar with the co-moderator candidates — a chance to hear directly from them and bring your questions into the conversation (registration required).

Solar School is June 4-7

We are planning our next Solar Direct trip there in August. Now is the time to mobilize a team. Our next Solar School is June 4-7th (Thursday – Sunday morning) at Central Presbyterian Church Fort Smith.
