Tappahannock Fire......A message from Rev. Becca Minor, Tappahannock Memorial UMC:

Tappahannock was devastated on Friday, July 15th in the downtown historic area. Almost an entire block was completely burned to the ground. 5 businesses and 4 apartments were lost. A relief fund has been established to help house these four families, to provide food and needed personal items. Housing is being sought, and the funds will help with furnishings, etc. The relief fund is also helping the employees who are no longer receiving income from work, as the community works alongside these individuals to either temporarily relocate their businesses or find other employment.

Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church is hosting a benefit concert, and receiving a love offering to support these efforts. You are invited to attend this benefit concert on Sunday, July 31st at 4 pm (please see the flyer below). You can also support our efforts, by mailing a financial donation to the church at PO BOX 326 Tappahannock VA 22560. In the memo please write Fire Relief. Thank you for your support during this difficult time for our community.

How to help Buchanan County following devastating flooding

The Rev. Bob Pihlcrantz, VAUMC Disaster Response coordinator, shared an update following the recent devastating flooding in Buchanan County, Va. The county is located in the Holston Conference and the Virginia Conference received an invitation to assist the flood relief efforts in any way that members of the conference can help. Pihlcrantz is coordinating these efforts with the local District Disaster Response Coordinators and information will be shared as soon as it it available.

At this time, please refrain from sending any physical donations to the county as their donation site is currently overwhelmed. The best way to help is through monetary donations which can be donated at the Holston Conference website.
