Congregations Join Together to Celebrate Earth Day

On May 1, 2022, three Des Moines area congregations joined together to hold a special worship service to mark Earth Day. Individuals from Highland Park Christian Church, New Beginnings Christian Church, and Covenant Christian Church met together in the previous weeks to plan this service, focused on Creation Care. As part of this fellowship, they also shared about their own efforts and contributions to Creation Care with each other.

As a follow-up to this special service, these congregations invited others in the Des Moines area to join them in active Creation Care. Volunteers set aside a Sunday afternoon in May to clean up litter at Riverview and McHenry Parks.

These three congregations are all Green Chalice Congregations through the Disciples of Christ Green Chalice Program. This program is designed to recognize congregations for being good stewards of Good's creation. It also aims to empower congregations with ideas and resources to enable them to live out their faith by caring for creation. Become a Climate Ambassador

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Green Chalice program has partnered with the Blessed Tomorrow Ambassadors Program to offer a training that can equip you with the knowledge, hands-on experience, and resources to speak and act confidently on climate change and solutions. This training can be done anytime online from any device. You can complete the 4-5 hour training in one session or divide it up as your schedule allows.

Global Mission Intern Applications Due June 15

The Global Mission Intern (GMI) program is an opportunity for young adults in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ to serve internationally with global partners for one to three years. Applications are due by June 15.
