The Message this Week

Preaching Text: John 17 1-11

Those you sent me!  The final Jeremiah reading speaks of a new covenant and we know this new covenant by name. In the message this week we will reflect on Jesus’ words to His disciples (and us) as He prays, ‘I made your name known to those whom you sent me.’  We are called to the same work- to make God’s name known to those right in front of us.

Holy and mighty God, thank you for Jesus, the new covenant, who makes your love known to us. Help us to share that love with the people in front of us, trusting that you have sent them.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

Do mission trips help people grow in their faith?

• Keep us ever mindful that it is you who reigns in love and justice, and make us to work to reveal your reign in all the earth.
• Help us to be siblings with all of creation, and care for all that you have made as you would.
• Help leaders to be advocates for justice for all, and make us to be active participants in our own governance.
• Hold all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit in your loving arms. Guide medical professionals and caregivers, and strengthen all who are facing illness or injury of any kind, especially Ken & Sue Issel, Ric Tornberg, and Scott Hauge.
• Guide victims of violence and oppression to resources of peace and liberation and help us to provide those resources wherever and however we can.
• Guide us in the faithful footsteps of saints who have gone before us until the time we all feast together in your eternal presence.

Trusting in your unending grace for all that you have made, we lift these and the prayers of our hearts to your loving care. Amen.
