Mission West Newsletter Vol 3 Issue 4        February 25, 2016
Good Thursday to you all!  As some of you may already know, at the Mission West Midwinter Rally in Carlsbad, NM, the first weekend in February, our Associate Mission West Minister, Karakay Kovaly, sustained a severe injury to her knee, a ruptured patella femoral ligament.  She has been off work since that time and is beginning, this week, six weeks of physical therapy, at which time her injury will once again be evaluated.  So Mission West is currently operating at half steam!

Mission West youth leaders are stepping into the breach and our Midwinter Rally in Brownwood, TX, this coming weekend, is happening with almost 150 adults and youth in attendance.  And I am sending out this (late) newsletter from a draft already prepared by KK and with only essential news.

I would ask you include Karakay (and Dan) in your prayers, as well as the Mission West Ministry, as we try to fill in (impossible) for Karakay.  If you have any questions for Karakay, please redirect them to the Mission West office or to me at this time.  We will set off fireworks across the Areas when Karakay is back to work!

March 1st is the $75 deposit per person and group registration deadline. For information about the Central Texas trip  (July 4-8)   contact Alex Smith .  For information about the St. Louis trip (June 27-July 1) contact Jessie Gray .  Individual registrations and final payment is due by May 1st.

Do you know a freshman, sophomore, or junior in high school that is active in your congregation, an excellent servant leader, and willing to plan retreats, rallies, and camps for their peers?  They should apply to be an Area Officer on the Mission West Ministry Youth Council.  Deadline for applications is Friday, March 4, 2016.

Youth ministers were born to dream!

The headlines may paint a grim picture for the future of the Church, but youth ministry has long been a place for innovation, entrepreneurship, and vision. It's time to imagine new ways of being church-to dream big and be open to the work of the Spirit. Where do we go from here? What's working? What's not? Where do we find the abundant life of Christ in our lives and communities?
Highlighting profiles for any new board members or staff members is a good way to put real faces behind the cause.

You are a man, active in leadership in a congregation, or you would probably not be reading this far. You may be wondering,  "Is it worth the trip?"

We , the General Conference of Disciples Men,  know that it is .  We all struggle with many of the same problems in our congregations and we know the value of fellowship, Bible study, exploring our calling as leaders, hands-on mission, and having fun while doing all that.
