November 4, 2014

October was a busy month with trunk or treats, regional assembly at Cypress Creek Christian Church, pastoral care class in Abilene and the Soul Repair event in Midland and so much more.  Advent is just around the corner, what are you using in your congregation to focus on this special season?  DHM has some great resources for families and children on their web page.

Today is election day, please remember to vote. Enjoy this month's newsletter.
Practicing Right Relationship in Your Congregation
Communication - Practicing Right Relationship in Your Congregation

People long for meaningful relationships. Strong programs and lovely facilities are not enough. God intends for our relationships to be
effective, fulfilling, and generative. But, right relationships are messy. They require intentional, deliberate work that will be uncomfortable at times. They demand that we learn new skills and practice them.
These skills can be learned. The difference they make for us as individuals, for our congregations, and for the world makes it worth
every ounce of effort. To prepare read: Practicing Right Relationship: Skills For Deepening Purpose, Finding Fulfillment And Increasing Effectiveness In Your Congregation, by Mary Sellon. Available
through Amazon.

Presenter-Dr. Chuck Fisher, past Hi Plains Area Minister (2002-2014) and now retired, served as a local pastor for more than thirty years and as Area Minister for twelve. A graduate of TCU (68) and
Brite (72 and 80), Chuck served churches in Missouri, Idaho,
Oklahoma and Texas.

It's not too late. You can register online or by calling the mission west office at 806.358.9590. Registration Deadline is Nov. 6.

This is is the sixth of a monthly email newsletter sent to all participants in Mission West.  If you missed previous newsletters, you can see them in the  News section of our web site.  This newsletter will arrive on the first Tuesday of each month.  For those that would like paper copies please call the office at 806.358.9590 and we will mail you a paper version.

One of our goals in Mission West is to help connect churches to one another.  Rather than a model of ministry as a hub of a wheel, Mission West  hopes to work as an interconnected web.  One way to accomplish this goal is by sharing our stories and experiences in ministry.  If you have a ministry that you would like highlighted, please let me know , no later than the 25th of each month to be shared in following issues.

Blessings on your journey,

Karakay Kovaly
I hope you will join me for my ordination service on
Dec. 5th at the Chalice Abbey in Amarillo at 7pm
