Volunteer Story: Carlisle UMC

Mission Central is fortunate to have partnerships with churches and organizations where teams come to volunteer each and every month (or even week)! We are incredibly grateful for this support as it allows us to further our mission of 'connecting God's resources with human need.' In a 'regular year' volunteers add the value of 10 full time employees and over $675,000 (at the national volunteer rate of $27.20/hour.) That is nothing short of amazing!

Carlisle UMC posted an article about their work in the church newsletter. We thought we would share it!

We at CUMC volunteer the third Thursday of each month and work from 9AM to Noon. Some of us drive there by ourselves and others meet at the church at 8:30 AM and carpool. At this time we can have a group of 15.

We usually verify kits which involves sitting at tables, opening kits that have already been made up and verifying that they contain the proper items. It’s an easy job, not stressful, and is a wonderful opportunity to share the Love of Christ to others.

Mission Central is fully supported by churches, local businesses, and individuals with over half their relief efforts staying right here in Pennsylvania. CUMC has been able to get two playsets for Little Lights, personal size hand sanitizer for kids in our local schools, ice packs for mission trips, laundry detergent, bleach and more!
