August 11, 2020
Today, August 11, Mike and Vickie Reynen travel from the U.S. to Togo. Pray for good health and an uncomplicated journey. Ask the Lord to give strength and wisdom in all their ministry activities. Mike will be involved with teaching and administrative meetings. Vickie will visit International Childcare Schools (ICCM) schools and work with ICCM staff. They plan to return to the U.S. on August 28.
Praise the Lord for technology, allowing leaders from all over Asia to gather for monthly prayer meetings. Continue to pray for these leaders as they find new ways to plant churches and care for the needy amid the current realities.

This month, Bishop Alan Bacus of the Philippines will facilitate four webinars for young leaders from FM churches in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Pray for God’s hand to be upon those who participate as he shares about the FREE Asia Youth Movement.
Pray for new Associate Missionary Erin Kingsley, who will be serving alongside Larry and Katie Winckles in Budapest, Hungary. Her ministry will include leading children’s programming, teaching English, conducting art therapy, and connecting with Set Free work in Hungary. Pray for the Lord to provide strong prayer and financial partners despite the challenges of partnership building during a period when many churches did not have in-person gatherings.

The crisis center in Russia cares for children and teens who have lived through great heartbreak and abuse. Pray for six teens being cared for, mentored, and discipled weekly. Tanya Mendakoff (International Missionary) shares of their growing thirst to know God as their Father and Savior, even asking for Bibles. Pray for God to speak through the staff at the center. Ask the Father to continue to open their hearts to the gospel and do a miracle of healing and transformation.
Please pray for the mission district of Perú. This district has been hard-hit by the coronavirus.
  • Pastora Julia passed away Sunday as a result of the virus. Please pray for her children, Rosa and Luis as they deal with her loss.
  • Pray for Pastor Edgar Apaza and his wife Gloria, who are currently undergoing treatment. We thank God they seem to be responding well.
  • Pray for district leader, Geovanna Chavez, who is struggling with the virus and also undergoing treatment. Please include her elderly parents, sister and 3-year-old nephew in your prayers. They all live with her and have multiple risk factors.
Superintendent Patricio Alvial of Chile asks us to join in praying for Pastor Jaime Vejar, who was assaulted last week, severely damaging his skull. Pray for his physical healing, the return of his memory, and emotional healing for the family.

Dr. Ricardo Gómez, the Latin America Area Director for Free Methodist World Missions, is pleased to announce the approval of Shane & Katie Jewell as Associate Missionaries to serve in Bogotá, Colombia, and Rodrigo and Tanya Rosado as Associate Missionaries to serve in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Pray for these two families as they complete partnership building, raising a strong team of prayer and financial supporters. To read the complete news release, click here.
Following the massive explosion in Beirut, Lebanon last Tuesday, FMWM and Impact Middle East invite you to join us in praying for brothers and sisters in Lebanon. Pray for:
  • Comfort for the families of more than 200 who were killed
  • Hope and peace for the families of more than 100 still unaccounted for
  • Healing for at least 5,000 injured by the blast
  • Provisions for more than 300,000 left homeless
  • Food and other supplies for the country as the explosion destroyed a significant entry port and a major granary
  • Wisdom relating to other problems the people are already dealing with ̶ economic difficulties, governmental collapse, war, violence, a huge refugee population and COVID
  • Ministry partners, Christian organizations and Christ-followers to boldly proclaim hope in Christ as they serve and love those in need
Praise God SEED’s work has helped keep livelihood groups open during the pandemic. The Asia Overcomers group writes, “Without you helping us develop other customers, we would have closed earlier this year. It is hard for everyone this year, but we are blessed to still have work. Thank you for your great help and love to everyone in our group.” Thank the Lord and pray for the Overcomers group in Asia.

As a result of the pandemic, millions of people worldwide are being driven into extreme poverty. Poverty and vulnerability are fuel for human traffickers. Desperation leads to potential exploitation – unethical work situations, forced labor, physical and sexual abuse, trafficking, and child predators. Pray for Set Free Movement teams around the world as they educate, advocate and work to end the injustice, slavery and human trafficking in their communities.
