A 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan on Sunday, causing some bridges and buildings in southern Taiwan to collapse. Most of our FM tribal churches are located in southeastern Taiwan. At this time, Superintendent Tsai reports our FM brothers and sisters are safe. Please pray for peace and safety as the aftershocks may continue for several days.
Typhoon Nanmadol hit Japan on September 19. Damage was concentrated on the large southern island of Kyushu, where many homes and villages were flooded. Currently, there are no damage reports from FM churches or members. Please continue to those who were affected.
EUROPE
Missionary Cathy Alford was involved in a cycling accident while participating in the 2022 Love Spain Imperial Camino Cycling Tour. She will have surgery on her elbow on Thursday, September 22. Pray for a speedy recovery from the surgery and other injuries.
LATIN AMERICA
Please pray urgently for Haiti. Bishop Desveriste says there are demonstrations and violence everywhere. He has asked superintendents and pastors to stay home and keep connecting with their assemblies. Pray for God's light to prevail amid great darkness.
Please pray for the people of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic following Hurricane Fiona. Puerto Rico was hit with severe flooding and is without electricity. Superintendent Mercedes reports the pastors and church members are all safe.
The Mexican Provisional General Conference meets this weekend following two COVID-related delays. Please pray as the delegates elect a new bishop and conduct business. Pray for challenge and inspiration as a team of Latin American leaders cast a vision for joining more fully in the movement of God happening across the Latin America region. In addition to the delegates, about 75 emerging leaders will attend to participate in this equipping time. Pray for Bishop Linda Adams as she presides over the election of the bishop.
Pray for Pastor Sebastian Caballo, the mission district leader in Uruguay. He broke his foot this past weekend. Pray for healing and perseverance during his recovery time.
Pray for Pastor David Lopez, Latin America’s Coordinator for Multiplying Committed Disciples. He is waiting on insurance arrangements and will likely have surgery on his leg sometime this week.
MIDDLE EAST
Praise the Lord for all He is doing through our leaders in Egypt! Join us in praying for the many in Egypt who have yet to know of the love of Jesus and for those whom God is raising as leaders for His kingdom work there.
FMWM FAMILY
Franisi Sando Muvile, bishop emeritus of Mozambique, passed away last week, leaving a legacy of uniting and healing the church. A funeral service was held on Monday, September 19. Please pray for his family and the church in Mozambique as they mourn his passing.
INTERNATIONAL CHILD CARE MINISTRIES
The situation in Haiti remains desperate. Food and fuel prices are soaring. Violence, kidnappings and looting continue. Please pray for God's protection and provision for our ICCM children and their families. Pray for peace, perseverance and hope.
