Missouri infrastructure investment - focus on bridges
Missouri has 10,385 bridges – the sixth most in the nation. More than 900 of those bridges are in poor condition and 1,194 are weight restricted. Four hundred and fifty bridges fall into both categories. Gov.Mike Parson has recognized the need for additional funding for infrastructure projects in our state and has put forth a proposal to repair or replace hundreds of the state’s worst bridges. Missouri fatalities slightly decrease in 2018
For the third year in a row, more than 900 people were killed in Missouri traffic crashes. Preliminary numbers indicate 918 lives were lost in 2018, down slightly from 932 in 2017. Speed, distraction, impairment and fatigue continue to be top causes of fatal crashes. Cellphone related crashes are up 35 percent since 2014. Read more .

This day in transportation history
Jan. 31, 1890 - A new lighthouse made its debut near the north shore of Long Island to mark a shoal at the entrance to the hamlet of Cold Spring Harbor. Cold Spring Harbor Light remained in operation there until being deactivated in 1965.
