The House and Senate continue to have hearings on pro-life bills.
This week the House Children and Families Committee heard a bill (HB 2688 – Sponsor Rep. Darin Chappell) that would add clarification to our current statute on life beginning at conception that was passed back in 1987.
The House Rules Committee voted to move HB’s 1667 & 2294 (Sponsors are Rep. Brian Seitz and Holly Jones), the Born-Alive Abortion Survivor’s Protection Act to the full House for debate. We expect the House to debate and pass and send that bill to the Senate soon.
The Senate Families, Seniors and Health Committee held their first hearing on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivor’s Protection Act (SB 999 – Sponsor is Senator Brad Hudson) this week. We expect that committee to vote next week to send that bill to the full Senate for debate.
At this time, there is an education bill in the Senate scheduled for a hearing regarding teaching the development of a baby in public schools. The Sponsor of that bill, SB 978, is Senator Nick Schroer. We thank the sponsors of these bills for bringing these important pro-life bills forward!
Legal Update: The hearing on the court case regarding the Health and Safety standards in Missouri statute has concluded. These health and safety standards protect women from the abortion industry that ends the life of pre-born children and apparently has little regard for women’s safety and doesn’t want any accountability on their abortion business. We await the ruling from Judge Zhang and will keep you informed as information comes to light.
Plan now to attend Pro-life Action Day on Wednesday, March 11 to hear from Melissa Ohden an Abortion Survivor. It is a joy to hear how Melissa survived the abortion and has thrived throughout her life. You will want to hear Melissa’s testimony, and how she started the Abortion Survivor’s Network, an organization of people who survived an abortion attempt on their lives. We will report on other pro-life work and hear from some of our Statewide leaders.
